Page name

edit

I reverted the move from New Cardiff City Stadium back to New Cardiff City stadium, as this is not the official name of the stadium. At present it has no name, so "stadium" is used only to refer to what it is, not actually as part of the name. When the name is announced, the article will be moved accordingly. Recent changes.

edit

To explain why some recent changes are being reverted:

  • The removal of Cardiff City FC from the "Tenants" section of the infobox. This is incorrect. Even though they may own the stadium, they are still tenants there. Look at Old Trafford for precedent. Man Utd own the stadium but are still listed as tenants.
  • The lead section is being changed to "new Cardiff City football club stadium". As there is no official name for the stadium at present, and considering both CCFC and the Blues will play there, the most general name should be used, (which is also the title of the page). The bolding should thus be "new Cardiff City stadium".
  • A statement that the Blues will be entitled to play 18 games per season is being added, with two sources that give no support to this figure. Unless a source can actually be found to back this number up, then it cannot be used.
  • It is being claimed that Cardiff City Stadium Ltd is a subsidiary of Cardiff City F.C.. While this may be the case, the source is to a forum [1], which does not meet WP:RS.
  • The phrase "as tenants; Cardiff City being the landlords" is being added to a sentence immediately below where the same thing has already been stated. This is clear bias, and superfluous.
  • Cardiff Blues are being added to the list of "Tenants" for the retail development. This is clearly not the case - they are not opening a store there, they are sharing the ground.

With all due respect, you are starting to WP:OWN the page. The whole stadium issue is a hot potato whtin Cardiff, Blues fans wanting no part of it - based around some of the contract conditions. Having seen the agreement, the 18 DMDs ( Designated Match Days ) clause exists, and is a matter of massive debate as Blues won't have 18 home games next season.
I'd advise you to calm down, just leave the page. Gain consensus, take a break, edit other areas of interest. Edit warring benefits no-one, and it seems you're getting overly agitated. I'll try to clean the page up. Minkythecat (talk) 16:48, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
"I have seen it" is not a reliable source. Unless you can give a source, it cannot be included. Any statement that is challenged (as I am doing now) must be reliably sourced. This statement is currently not supported by fact and so should be removed. I am entirely calm. I have no reason to leave the page, I am attempting to improve it, but am being hampered by people with their own personal objections and biases. Do please clean up the page by all means - I trust you will address each of my above points. Nouse4aname (talk) 16:58, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image of ground

edit

A wonderful image has now been inserted. There's already a ground image present, the new one added gives undue prominence to the rugby side of things - the picture size, the rugby posts. Unless a massively compelling reason can be gven for it to be retained and consensus met here, I'll remove it in 2 days time. Minkythecat (talk) 20:41, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate it is a sensitive subject. For the record I enjoy football and rugby. I have played both, and have seen Wales play both sports many times, home & away. I've watched Cardiff City play (again home & away) & seen Cardiff Blues (away only). I mention this only to explain that I would consider myself a neutral re rugby vs football. The image captioned 'Inside the Cardiff City Stadium' is a good picture, and I think it should stay on this article. There will be images showing football. And there will be images showing rugby. The two teams are going to have to learn to live with each other at the new Stadium, and so should we here. Daicaregos (talk) 21:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Whilst that's somewhat of a valid view, the fact is eyes will be drawn to that picture. The size relative to other photos gives undue weight to the rugby side. There have been several matches played at the ground since opening yet the image chosen conveniently happen to be one of rugby. Any reader skimming said page will see the biggest picture happens to be rugby related. As an aside, no, both teams won't have to "learn to live with each other". As I've discussed with others, the ground is nowhere near an equal share, something Blues fans will realise pretty quickly... that's an irrelevance in a way. As I've said, my concern is any reader skimming sees a big rugby picture. The article needs to be NPOV; the problem being that some want the page to portray the stadium as being an "equal share" - which in now way reflects the reality of the situation.
If you look at other football stadium pages, like the Emirates, Old Trafford, they have far smaller size pictures in addition - I'd wager good money more people want want to see the interior of those stadia in greater detail than ours. Minkythecat (talk) 21:27, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, look at the placement of said image. New section? No. Right under the "stadium opening" section. In conjunction with the size of the photo, that too could be easily misconstrued. I do wonder why... Minkythecat (talk) 21:33, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Keep This article is about Cardiff City Stadium, whether or not it has rugby posts ot football posts is immaterial to me and this article. By the way, I am a football fan, first and foremost. Other stadiums also have a large image: Millennium Stadium for example.Seth Whales (talk) 18:34, 29 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I have always planned to add a photo of the outside of the stadium to go into the Infobox and replace the existing image (File:Inside Cardiff City Stadium.jpg). Seth Whales (talk) 17:39, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I have these. You're welcome to use any of them until you find a better one:

I'm unconvinced either way. I don't really think it matters whether photos of the ground show football or rugby posts, and images of both should be included in the article. However, I don't really think that image adds anything to the article. There's nothing particularly notable about the inside of the stadium so a photo of this size doesn't really seem to fit. I also see Minky's point about the placement of the photo. Nothing is mentioned about the Blues open day in that section, and a more appropriate photo for this section would be one of the City v Celtic match, as this was the "official" opening. Perhaps the photo could be made smaller and placed in a new section about the Blues? There is plenty of media coverage around the move of the Blues to the new ground, so there is plenty of scope for such a section, in which a smaller version of this photo would fit much better. Nouse4aname (talk) 15:54, 29 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Also, I hope that photo isn't a prediction of the average Blues attendance at the new ground... Nouse4aname (talk) 15:56, 29 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
5k STs, I'd heard so far. Minkythecat (talk) 18:17, 29 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
