Clarification needed in the article

edit

This article doesn't make it clear why the two were abducted by the caretaker. I watched the episode but so long ago I can't remember. I guess they were intended to be the new caretakers and the ship was taken to obtain new caretakers but it doesn't say Nil Einne

Something about the caretaker was looking for compatible DNA or something to, basically, procreate. Cburnett 18:48, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
The only hint that the Caretaker gives is "They died because they were incompatible", referring to those who had been sent to the Ocampa. He was not specifically talking about Torres and Kim, and it's not stated anywhere that he had actually tried to impregnate anyone from the two crews (as the article states), only that he was performing tests on them to see if they were compatible. It's possible that Kim and Torres were afflicted with the disease merely as a result of those tests, and not by any attempted impregnation. As such, I believe the appropriate clause in the article should be changed or removed.STLocutus 16:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stadi killed?

edit

It says here that Stadi was killed, but as I recall there is some doubt as to whether she was killed, or simply assigned to another area of the ship after Voyager arrived in the Delta Quadrant, and Tom took over the helm permanently thereafter. Anyone know which one is considered to be correct?--Tabun1015 02:51, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

This should shed some light on it. Matthew 02:54, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
It was clearly mentioned in dialog (by Tom Paris) that Stadi was killed when they were thrown into the Delta quadrant.STLocutus 16:00, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Besides, even if Stadi wasn't killed, I would imagine they would have a Starfleet officer replace her rather than an observer / former Maquis member. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr. College (talkcontribs) 01:39, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

http://www.amazon.com/Badlands-Book-Two-Star-Trek/dp/067103958X provides a different point of view of the first episode. Lots42 (talk) 07:42, 24 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Source for later expansion

edit

There are some copied sources from published sources here. These mostly relate to articles just prior and post "Caretaker", including a review from USA Today. Miyagawa (talk) 18:43, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Unexplained redirect

edit

Nacene is currently a redirect to this page, but that term doesn't appear anywhere in the article. The connection may be obvious to experts, but should be made explicit on this page. - IMSoP (talk) 14:43, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
