editI can't really confirm the CV dates. But the german version and all biographies I found show other birth and death dates. Seems there is a confusion between the US and the world way how to write dates .
Indeed: According to the Stiftung Werner-von-Siemens-Ring Auerbach CV, of which he is a Laureate, his birth and death are: * 1. September 1858 in Wien + 4. August 1929 in Schloß Welsbach. The same says the Auer von Welsbach Musuem Auerbach biography Hence I correct these dates accordingly! --7Piguine 10:34, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Names and Dates
editBut the Auer von Welsbach Musuem gives date of death as 8 April not 4 August! Moreover, the month is named as April, not given as a number.
Wondered why the article refers to Welsbach when the family name seems to be Auer von Welsbach.
title
editHis father was a Ritter, not a Freiherr; he got the higher rank later, for which he chose the motto plus lucis "more light". See section IV.1 of Fontani et al.'s The Lost Elements. Double sharp (talk) 04:18, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

Lawsuit
editI can find no convincing reference to a lawsuit (Wagner v. Coleman) against Coleman over their thorium-containing mantles - just a comment at the bottom of this page, posted by WalterLWagner: https://www.motherearthnews.com/natural-health/radioactive-danger-of-mantle-lamps-zmaz82ndzgoe
Can anyone stand this up, or should I just delete it? Moletrouser (talk) 17:36, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
