Alexander Technique predates the Stough technique?
editFrederick Matthias Alexander explains in his books about how to exhale breath with whispered AH’s. All this was tried tested and published before Stough’s work I believe. Alexander used to tap the rib cage of pupils in a similar way described in the Stough article. Alexander was practicing these techniques in 1926 when Stough was born. So although they could have worked independently the descriptions are strikingly similar and Alexander got there first. At the very least it is wrong to claim Alexander’s books have taken from Stough’s ideas. As Alexander died in 1955 after a long career it is more possibly the other way around. Maybe Stough was unique in his approach and should be recognised but the reference to the Alexander Technique deriving from Stough’s work is false and chronologically impossible. 2A02:6B61:525B:0:E451:A267:BAAB:33BA (talk) 19:41, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
