The new bird
editSo is this Reneta Lawrence his new girlfriend for real? How come she's only crawled out the woodwork now? Can we negate she's a family member or friend of some form, or are we basing this purely on the tabloid media of Australia? It's odd he's asked his wife to divorce him 'for her sake' yet has another bird lined up. She's a stunner too. :P 211.30.71.59 08:46, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
What is the attraction to jailbird serial killers?
Graffiti?
edit"Dr. I. Ron Ahnus later confirmed the only reason Williams survived the bullet was due to his excessive stomach pudding"... Come on... does "Dr Iron Anus" sound a little fishy to anyone? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.209.50.198 (talk) 04:19, 4 March 2007 (UTC).
- Affirmative. I deleted accordingly. Naysie 13:01, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

editI tagged it as not citing references because the information does not include those references after the comment is made. Please feel free to cleanup and delete the tag when necessary. As this is an ongoing event, I have also tagged it as "current". Naysie 13:01, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup
editI've cleaned up, to an extent, and updated the details of the trial including his sentence, which is referenced at the bottom. However if someone can possibly make the 'murders' into a chronological sequence in the article, and then another bit for the trial that would be appreciated. at the moment, though it's quite ok data, the article is one big chunk that needs sorting. TV watchers
editI think there's way too many people watching a certain TV series that use it as their "credible" source to make edits... refer last couple of ones. Freestyle-69 (talk) 22:26, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Death
editCarl Williams has recently died (just been confirmed in Australia by Victoria Police).
I imagine there may be some vandalism and shaky information for a bit Pursey Talk | Contribs 04:27, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- Do you have a link to the confirmation? The ABC is still reporting that he is believed to have died, but that this hasn't been officially confirmed. - Bilby (talk) 04:38, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- As of now, the article can say "the media is reporting that Williams is believed to have died" but we can't say he has died. The former statement is pretty much useless so we may as well leave it out altogether. --Mkativerata (talk) 04:49, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- The Sydney Morning Herald is now reporting the death as fact, so I think it can go in (without copyvio of course!) --Mkativerata (talk) 04:56, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- The ABC has also clarified that his lawyer has declared that it was Williams.[1]. - Bilby (talk) 04:58, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Mother's death
editI temporarily removed:
- Williams' mother Barbara was found dead in her Melbourne home on 22 November 2008. She had been suffering from depression.[1]
I'm not sure if this needs to be mentioned here, unless it directly relates to William's activities, but others may disagree. Either way, though, it isn't a recent event any more - perhaps it would be better suited to a "Personal Life" section, it if was to be included? - Bilby (talk) 04:50, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, the information is superfluous. It adds nothing to the reader's understanding of Carl Williams.--Mkativerata (talk) 04:52, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism
editCan this site be semi protected against vandalism as that the death of Carl Williams will attract many vandals to this site? -- throttler (talk) 06:25, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've put in a request. - Bilby (talk) 05:35, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Murders
editI've wiped mentions in the article of the murders of Lewis Moran and Mark Moran as there were no source linking Williams to the murders. I can't recall if he was linked to either murder, but that doesn't matter; the point is that a source is required. Williams' death has highlighted that this article really needed some work. --Mkativerata (talk) 06:11, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Daughter's school fees
editI fail to see the reasoning for linking the article of school fees for Williams' daughter paid by the Victorian Police to the death of Carl. This is a matter of coincidence and therefore has no relevance to the death of Carl so no need to include. If relevant to Carl Williams, choose another area to post the article in. -- throttler (talk) 07:38, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- No-one other than you is saying it is just a coincidence. Williams lawyer reported this morning that Williams was upset by the revelation. [4] It is relevant to his death as a significant event that occurred on the same day. WWGB (talk) 07:54, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- I think the information belongs in the article (it was considered newsworthy) but it should not be in the section on "death" until there is anything solid linking the two. --Mkativerata (talk) 07:58, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- There also seems to be a "chess games" strategy to murder Carl Williams. Note that two days before the death of Carl, Barwon Prison was set alight by the inmates possibly to gain access to Carl Williams because it seems that some changes were made the next day. The money for Dhakota's schooling was more of a sweetener for Carl to provide more information if the underworld. What we have is many here and there say with no evidence directly linking with Carl's death. Maybe there needs to be another section in Wiki concerning Carl's dealing with the police whilst in prison. -- throttler (talk) 08:50, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
I know this is about Williams, but it is surprising that there is NO mention of someone reported to be his best friend,(see refs) was extremely close to Williams' wife, and was supposedly Williams bodyguard and (possibly) his 'hitman'. Anytime you saw Williams, Veniamin was usually there. (at least on the TV News!) Surely there should be some mention of him?

Funeral coverage
editReported to have been buried in a "gold plated coffin" (at least they showed a gold coffin at the church) is that something that should be added? Certainly not all that common, in my POV. Roberta Williams arrived in a greatly stretched Hummer limousine. Also a bit unusual. No references for this, so far, but that is what was shown on the Sydney(Oz) TV news. Too trivial for addition? --220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:09, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Exercise bike or seat stem?
editThis article notes "He was bludgeoned to death with an exercise bike handle by another inmate"
However the Matthew Charles Johnson page notes "Using a metal bar from the seat of an exercise bike, Johnson struck Williams on the head"
Do we know which it was, or whether the reporting on the method is conflicting? AnonsysL (talk) 04:47, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
