Mincher

edit

Keith Mincher is listed as a Manager, this is open to doubt. He arrived and departed the club before a ball was kicked in a friendly, let alone a competative game, and hardly anybody saw him.217.22.0.164 13:16, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The main list of managers has been moved to it's own page and replaced with a shortened list of notable managers here. On that page Mincher is anotated as having not managed a game. If5tatement (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Managerial history

edit

Hi, I'm not sure the managerial history is 100% correct. My wife is the great grandaughter of Charlie Parker. He played for Sunderland between 1920 and 1929, maybe 1930 and then I have been informed by Charlies daughter that he went on to manage Carlisle United, maybe in a player/manager capacity. The duration of the reign I am not sure. Andy 1966 (talk) 20:07, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

According to this source [[1]] Charlie Parker was a player/coach for Carlisle not a manager. The list of managers now has it's own page. If5tatement (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Recentism

edit

All the ins and outs of every season in the past two decades is unnecessary. It would have been relevant when it was the latest situation, but not now. Some pruning is required. Patrick Neylan (talk) 00:54, 31 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have sorted this on this page and moved a longer history here. That page still requires some work which I will attent to eventually. If5tatement (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Middlesbrough rivals?

edit

Despite the bizarre outcome of that poll, very few Carlisle fans would feel any sort of rivalry with Middlesbrough. Hartlepool, Darlington, Newcastle, Sunderland, Hull, Preston, Burnley and Blackpool would come way before them in my opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.244.161.187 (talk) 16:52, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

The smallest top flight football club by population??

edit

The article asserts that Carlisle are the smallest club, in terms of resident population to have played in the top flight of football. However Grimsby Town have also played in the top flight - Current population of Carlisle 71,000 - current population of Grimsby 27,000 (or 19,000 for Skegness where Grimsby play). Can anyone verify this claim? Bowchaser (talk) 21:04, 17 April 2018 (UTC) This claim is quite clearly incorrect - Grimsby Town were in the top flight in the 1947-47 season (with much smaller population) so have removed.
