Was Carlo Acutis an Italian or British?

edit

Was Carlo of Italian or British nationality or of both nationalities?

A person can have two nationalities.Rafaelosornio (talk) 20:45, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Rafaelosornio, He was born in England to Italian parents. It depends on what the citizenship laws of the United Kingdom are. Elizium23 (talk) 20:52, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
At the time of his birth, EU citizens were treated as having settled status which meant that he would have had British nationality by his birth in the UK. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 15:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Patronage

edit

His patronage is unsourced. The Cardinal Newman Society citation has no link, and I could not search it on their website. I will be removing unsourced patronages. Elizium23 (talk) 00:14, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

What is Carlo Acutis’ website name? Aebel Joseph Saju (talk) 09:22, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Laptop as attribute?

edit

Top of the attributes in the infox of this article is a Laptop. By what stretch can this be described as a specific Christian symbol? In fact, we do not know whether Acutis used one or a desktop. Either way, it should be removed since hardware is also and more generally used for other less uplifting purposes.--Po Mieczu (talk) 23:06, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Po Mieczu, agreed -- removed. Elizium23 (talk) 11:43, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
The Apostle Paul holds a sword as his primary attribute, which is a weapon. Swords also can be used for “less uplifting purposes” but this doesn’t discount the sense of the Christian faithful. Maximilian775 (talk) 23:39, 3 February 2023 (UTC) Maximilian775 (talk) 23:39, 3 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Photos of Carlo

edit

I've noticed that there have been people posting photos of Carlo, only to be removed by another user. Unless you have personally taken said photographs yourself, have permission from the photographer, or it's from a group like the Associated Press that allows the photo to be used in such a manner, the files will be subject to deletion. If you need specifics or a refresher on the rules, please read Commons:Licensing.

Is he officially a Saint yet?

edit

Someone edited his title to saint, probably because of the recent recognition of his second miracle, but that doesn't automatically make him canonized, right?

As of today, May 25, 2024, I would permit references to sainthood but would not allow a change in title until canonization. Source: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2024-05/pope-francis-saints-decrees-miracle-acutis-allamano.html

Are you the pope? He's not a saint until canonised. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 11:03, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sources

edit

There is a great deal on this article that cites only one source, a book published by Sophia Institute Press. This is a "conservative Catholic publishing company". Some of the more remarkable claims made in this article, supported only by this book, could really do with a cite from a more impartial source. There is also a suspicion that many of the claims made in the article have taken single events reported in the book, and turned them into frequent habits. @Escape Orbit This page is stained by intense bias and falsehood. 2600:1012:B1BE:92F9:95F7:DB30:B455:6A3C (talk) 02:01, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Falsehood? Please explain. Neocorelight (Talk) 05:59, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
That one book is used as a reference over 100 times in total, which is far too much reliance on a single source. I've tagged the article accordingly. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 11:05, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

anti-Semitism

edit

Dear The C of E, it is interesting that you describe anti-Semitic content in the miracle narratives as ‘not relevant’. I don't want an argument on Wikipedia, but I am very disconcerted by your view. Is Catholic identity possibly more important to you than the facts? If I am wrong, I would ask you to revert your change. Kaubuk (talk) 06:24, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

1, I'm not Catholic, I'm Anglican. 2, what you posted was not relevant to Carlo Acutis. It was a general commentary about it which would probably be be suited for the miracle article, but you need to provide some WP:RS for what you're saying otherwise it will get deleted again. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 07:22, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are right: Acutis didn't publish such legends. My source was wrong. Thank you for the correction. In the historical context, there is a proximity to the stories that triggered the pogroms, but these are actually omitted. Acutis' stories find other unfortunate scapegoats. The subject of the numerous anti-Jewish host sacrilege stories must be dealt with elsewhere. Kaubuk (talk) 07:05, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
