Other low points: in 2000, he dropped out at a time check at the Rally Australia, hoping to start later on the next stage, only to have officials bounce him from the event. (Source: SpeedVision Race News) Trekphiler 04:13, 23 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Didn´t Carlos stop ona a stage under 100m before the end of the stage and was disqualifed because of that? He didnt play games in time check in Australia 2000.

Question about links; is it forbidden to have link to Carlos Sainz unofficialfansite via Wikipedia? --Masa2 (talk) 12:20, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

My understanding is that advertising isn't allowed and that fansites are therefore at least very much discouraged, if not forbidden. In other words, I wouldn't. MRacer (talk) 15:53, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Carlos Saints is an was a very well established rally driver Robber53 (talk) 22:18, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Stopping before checkpoints to hit the next stage at a better time of day is the rally equivalent of football teams losing to easier teams in championships in the early matches to increase the chances of playing easier teams in the finals Robber53 (talk) 22:20, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Incomplete article; help for translation from Spanish WP article

edit

The article is so incomplete when compared to its spanish WP version. I believe a tag in the top should be added calling for translation from the Spanish article into English. Unless someone else does, I personally could help with the translation. (LeonCR (talk) 21:06, 31 December 2012 (UTC))Reply

Sentence about Sweedish Rally

edit

It is not clear what "in this case without ever breaking the trend" actually means. From the context I would guess that it means that the Sweedish Rally has only been won by Nordic drivers but this is not transparent. If this is the intended meaning then perhaps a better wording would be "he came close to repeating the feat in the Sweedish Rally with..." Eckerslike (talk) 23:02, 28 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Carlos SainzCarlos Sainz Sr. – I can find no evidence to suggest that this article is the WP:PRIMARY TOPIC over Carlos Sainz Jr. The use of Sr. is a natrual disambiguation (like we do with Jr.), but I am open to any other disambiguation. The pageviews for Jr. are higher and whilst Sr. is a two-time rally world champion, the fact is that Formula One (in which Jr. competes) does get more following than ralling, furthering the cause that this page isn't the Primary topic. Finally, googling "Carlos Sainz" gives a majority of sources talking about Jr. (but this is heavily impacted by WP:RECENTISM, as Jr. competes significantly more thann Sr.) I therefore propose this move and suggest that Carlos Sainz becomes a disambiguation page. • Support DAB at base name. Not sure what the best disambiguator is for race drivers, but I agree both entries should be disambiguated.--Ortizesp (talk) 05:19, 2 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - The father has greater long-term significance as a two-time world rally champion and a one-time Asia-Pacific rally champion, however since such a good WP:QUALIFIER is available for natural disambiguation I think moving this article and making the base title a WP:DAB page would be closer to the WP:PRECISE policy. • Comment. It's only reasonable to disambiguate using "Sr." if that is "well-attested in reliable sources": see WP:SR. Fortunately it does seem to be, to give one example:
  • Kew, Matt (30 November 2020). "WRC legend Carlos Sainz Sr joins Extreme E as driver for QEV team". Autosport. Retrieved 3 October 2021.
and the article already has one reference (currently number 31) with "Sr".:
My Gsearch brings up others, some as "Sr" and some as "Sr.", but I'm not that worried about the stop. 85.67.32.244 (talk) 12:25, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
