Does Carmel Hamlet have official boundaries?
editBeing mindful that hamlets in New York State often do not have official boundaries, does Carmel hamlet have official boundaries? If so, is there a source identifying the actual boundaries? Signs on US 6 and Rte 301 indicate entry into the hamlet, but areas beyond those boundaries are sometimes referred to as being within Carmel hamlet, and not just Carmel town. --Ana Nim 21:58, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
I do not know if it has official boundaries, but in various points, there are signs indicating one has entered the hamlet. --Forever88 23 March 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 03:22, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Right, signs like those I noted led me to ask the question. I'm trying to find out what is the basis for placing those signs where they are.--Ana Nim (talk) 21:20, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you are a Carmel resident, or near the Carmel area, the county office next to the old courthouse may be able to help you.--Forever88 24 March 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 00:44, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- The hamlet is a census designated place, but there are no official boundires I am aware of. The Town Clerks office at 60 McAlpin Ave., Mahopac would be of more assistance than the County offices.EMT1871 (talk) 14:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
