editI am the daughter of Carmelo Zito, and someone has been vandalizing this page. When the page was created a hyperlink was created to go with an article called Italian Americans. Carmelo Zito is mentioned under the newspaper section of that article. Since I have come back to page, someone has removed the hyperlink. I am attempting to return the hyperlink, and my edit is not showing up. I will have access to a book written Facondo, Gabriella. Socialismo italiano esule negli USA (1930-1942). Quaderni della FIAP, Italy, 1993. which I have added the reference and I will soon be able to cite page numbers once the book is mailed to me from overseas. I will be upload a photo of Carmelo Zito. Please keep an eye on this page to make sure no one is removing or changing the data in a malicious way. I also have notes for another reference book. Ethnic Allegiance and Class Consciousness Among Italian-American Workers, 1900-1941 Author: Stefano Luconi Apriv40dj (talk) 14:06, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- Apriv40dj, when you upload that photo, please make sure it is a photo that you took and upload it to Commons:Special:Upload. Make sure that when you upload it, you choose an appropriate free use license or your image will be deleted. I will post some more info on uploading images to your talk page to make sure that you don't have any issues. :) — {{U|Technical 13}} (t • e • c) 15:00, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes, we are in the process of selecting a family photography that is representational of the time in which he was most prominent, from our family albums. I will mark it creative commons. I has to be scanned. There are no photos of Carmelo Zito floating around the web even if I was going to use one of them. There are none.Apriv40dj (talk) 15:05, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- I see no sign of vandalism. I wonder whether you are referring to where you tried to link the first two words of the article to Carmelo Zito, which of course would be linking back to itself; this would be pointless & doesn't show as a link, and I have corrected it back to showing the first two words directly in bold. If you are referring to some other edit, please give us a diff. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:06, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- By way of explanation, what they were trying to do to the first two words was this: '''[[Italian American|Carmelo Zito]]'''. Flat Out let's discuss it 15:15, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
The article is coming along ok, but I am very poor editor, at this point, but I am learning. I now have a copy of the book. Facondo, Gabriella. Socialismo italiano esule negli USA (1930-1942). Quaderni della FIAP, Italy, 1993. and I will be using this book to add more information to the profile. I have the author's permission to use this book. She is a family friend and on my facebook. But, she is busy right now as she is a news broadcaster. But, she will not mind if I use her book on Wikipedia. I have already a confirmation email from her that is ok to use her book. I would know more about my father off the top of my head, but he had Alzheimer's, by the time I was 11, he could not rely to me this information about his life. I know it says natural causes, but a friend editor made the page, because I could not learn to make a new page. I thought I should put natural causes. It depends on if one things Alzheimer's is a natural part of aging. I would prefer it be changed myself, as it promotes awareness and helps others. I will be using google translate for the translation. I also have a website I could upload portions of text if needed, but the book is not in e format, it is a hard copy, and so to type it all out would be the only way to create a eBook or website that could be accesses. I would not upload the whole book but some key parts of the book, maybe? But, my website will be deleted (no doubt) after my term is up with Go Daddy, so it has to be something more permanent. As websites are often deleted, there is no way to make a permanent statement other then Wikipedia. @David Biddulph: Apriv40dj (talk) 20:17, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Apriv40dj and thanks for continuing to share your thoughts and potential sources so as to avoid issues with conflict of interest. In terms of the book you have obtained, you can summarise sections that relate to your father and write them here in your own words, supported by that source. Wikipedia articles simply summarise what reliable sources have to say about a subject. You are not able to upload sections of the book here, though. Flat Out let's discuss it 23:14, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- I knew I could not upload sections of the book to Wikipedia, but the book is not widely available. I could not even get a copy for some number of years, as I was waiting for my sister to find her copy or for someone to send me a copy, until I went and found it from amazon book seller from Europe. You can still find the book on European sections of ebay, but some will not ship to the USA. The article is only a stub, but I think much more has been added to it. How much more needs to be added to bring it up out of the stub classification? 76.14.60.80 (talk) 00:37, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Notability
editNotability has not been shown yet in this article, there is one passing mention in a book and very little else by way of sources, but plenty of conflict of interest edits, using personal knowledge rather that independent sourcing as required. Theroadislong (talk) 18:56, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
- As far as I can see the single claim to Notability would be his editorship of Il Corriere del Popolo. As this doesn't have an article, to me it looks very much like a tribute/memorial page. KJP1 (talk) 22:34, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
COI editing by subject's family
editRegarding the suggestion above that this is a memorial, well over half the contributions here have been by the subject's daughter (disclosed above) and his son (disclosed on Teahouse here, in relation to Alamy republishing the pic the son had uploaded to Wikiepdia.) I've tagged for COI. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 02:23, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
