Co-founder of Net-A-Porter?

edit

An IP editor has recently changed the article to say that Busquets "is known for being a cofounder, major early investor and board director of Net-A-Porter". Based on the sources below, I don't think that "cofounder" is accurate. In the post above, Busquets' representative, User:Vivj2012, had suggested the use of "cofounder".

The 2011 Financial Times article at http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/b8460f54-edb9-11e0-a9a9-00144feab49a.html#axzz226C9iEmj describes Busquets as: "An early backer of Net-A-Porter" and "Three years later, she met Natalie Massenet, who had just founded Net-A-Porter. Ms Busquets invested an initial £250,000 and joined the board." (italics added)

The 2011 The Telegraph article at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/8686213/Carmen-Busquets-invests-in-social-networking-clothing-design-business-Lookk.com.html says: "Ms Busquets met Nathalie Massenet and her husband in 1999, when the former Tatler fashion editor was setting up Net-a-Porter and recruiting investors but had raised only £350,000 of the £850,000 she needed from 30 different backers", then quotes Busquets as saying: "'They had an idea and a business plan,' she said." (italics added)

It seems to me that those articles in solid sources say that Net-A-Porter was founded by Nathalie Massenet and that Busquets came in after the founding. Later articles in the fashion press do describe Busquets as a founder of Net-A-Porter, but I suspect they are just repeating PR. Before I revert the use of "cofounder", I'd like to hear other's understandings of the issue. Thank you. SchreiberBike talk 22:13, 2 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Oliviabeckett5287: You recently added back in the idea that she was a "co-founder" of Net-A-Porter. Based on the above, I don't think that is accurate. What do you think? SchreiberBike | ⌨  17:47, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@SchreiberBike: From the following articles I do think that "co-founder" of Net-a-Porter is the correct term based on its use in articles such as this in The Telegraph https://www.telegraph.co.uk/luxury/womens-style/visionaries-2017-carmen-busquets/ and also The Business of Fashion https://www.businessoffashion.com/community/people/carmen-busquets . Do you agree?
@Oliviabeckett5287: I know nothing about fashion and very little about venture capital; I mostly edit about butterflies and moths, but this article has been on my radar for years as one which is subject to promotional editing. I suspect that she wants to be known as a co-founder of Net-a-Porter and has been telling people who interview her that she is, and they report it based on her word. The older articles linked above in my note from 2014 make it pretty clear to me that it would not be accurate to call her a co-founder.
I could ask for input from WP:FASHION and WP:FINANCE. It's also a concern to me as not being "advertising, marketing or public relations".

@SchreiberBike: I understand your explanation on your query regarding co-founder term and agree. With this in mind, I'd consider it accurate to list her involvement as 'founding investor'. What are your thoughts?
