edit

You assert that Carol Connors was the hostess of the "Gong Show." This is patently false. "Siv Åberg, a one-time Miss Sweden, was also on hand, acting more or less as the show's hostess."---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Barris. Please delete the incorrect info, or confer w/ the editor of the Chuck Barris and/or Gong Show pages. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johncheverly (talkcontribs) 17:57, 24 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's true. Please read this. David in DC (talk) 01:16, 25 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

johncheverly 03:22, 25 January 2013 (UTC)Fair enough. I am wrong. But as a childhood fan of "The Gong Show," I always remember Siv Aberg as the "hostess." I'm thinking Connors may have done a "one off" as a hostess and another as a contestant. I think any Chuck Barris production had the rep as being a vehicle for "up-n-comers." Did you see the YouTube vid of Jennifer Granholm on "The Dating Game"?Reply

Haven't seen it. But I've seen the one with Tom Selleck as a losing contestant. :)

I remember Siv Anberg, too. The newspaper source says Connors was invited back as a guest introducer after her appearace as a contestant. It lists four more dates after that. It specifically mentions her doing the start-of-show introduction. The other source suggests she did it over a number of years. So, Siv was #1, but there were guest introducers and, according to both the newspaper and book source, Carol Connors was a regular among the guest introducers. Have you seen Barris' autobiography, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He claims to have been, simultaneously, a game show producer/host AND a CIA assassin. It's both dark and hilarious. I am curious, how is an incorrect newspaper interview "correct information", yet a video clip of the actual performance "invalid"? Mushrom (talk) 20:12, 13 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

(actress)/(pornographic actress) RfC

edit

An RfC which may affect this article's title is currently taking place (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?). Rebecca1990 (talk) 06:57, 11 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

This RfC has been resolved to prefer "(actor/-tress)" by default (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography/Archive 7#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1008:A102:3F5D:8586:D28F:9579:CAF4 (talk) 13:41, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

IAFD as source

edit

Is the IAFD accepted as a legitimate source for Wikipedia? It lists Carol Connors' DOB as (Redacted). Can this be used on Wikipedia as a published fact? Gil gosseyn (talk) 19:10, 13 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

IAFD is a self-published source and cannot be used for biographies of living people. See WP:PORN#IAFD. --Sangdeboeuf (talk) 00:11, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
