editask carol about the husband bit not just put up what you don't know and who she living with —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.79.80.252 (talk) 22:59, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe Carol earned her B.A. from Kent State when she was originally there. She left the school (I think in 1983) before she completed her degree, although she later did earn the credits necessary to be awarded her B.A. from Kent St. If you read her biography page on CNN.com, you'll see that she's credited with earning her degree from Kent State, but not what date she actually earned it.
- That's backed up by the source that I cited there: "Costello attended Kent State until 1982, when she left the university without earning her degree...Costello’s visit will fulfill the requirements for her to earn her undergraduate degree from Kent State." I've Also Added a "Controversy" to Politico Journalist Michael Allen's Bio
editI thought it was "cute" that blogger Andrew Sullivan called him "Washington's Stenographer" (hee hee hee) so I've made that his new official nickname. I also added the following accusations of unethical behavior:
On more than one occasion, he has come under considerable criticism from other political writers such as Andrew Sullivan, Glenn Greenwald, and Media Matters for publishing articles that are primarily quotes, many on "background" so the speaker is unknown outside of occupation.[2] Often the material quoted is unsourced rumors or unsubstantiated claims, and often has a malicious tone.[3] His willingness to quote extended statements has given him frequent access to high-ranking officials, such as former Vice President Dick Cheney,[4] who are attracted to his large internet presence hosted by Politico. Since he is quoting others, the journalistic ethics involved are murky and in some cases his actions are clearly acceptable, however the pattern has earned him the nickname, "Washington's Stenographer".
My allegations about his unsubstantiated claims and malicious tone aren't sourced or supported by the footnoted article, but anyone who has read Allen can confirm it. And leave my revert on Costello's entry alone because CNN found the quote newsworthy -- they AIRED it -- not just some blogger.
Don't you dare remove it or I'll have your editing privileges revoked! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.193.146.146 (talk) 19:03, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Question
editWhat was the purpose of adding her etynicity to her biography? Surely it should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.138.205.144 (talk) 15:45, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Legitimate Edit Lost to Vandalism, Lockout!
editI added a neutral, source-cited section pertaining to the Bill Nye controversy yesterday. It was since vandalized, replaced with misogynistic nonsense (calling her a "whore" and whatnot). This vandalism was since removed and the article was protected, which it still is.
Here's the problem: My edit was valid (i.e. not part of the vandalism) but it has not been restored, nor has it been replaced by anything (the information has just been censored completely). Furthermore, since the article has been locked, I'm unable to fix this.
Could somebody please re-add the section I added yesterday under the same IP? Feel free to make corrections if you find any errors, but there are no grounds for censoring it completely. It is relevant, well-sourced, and can be presented in a neutral manner. 173.10.123.113 (talk) 19:21, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- One issue with the content that you added was that it wasn't backed up by reliable resources. It's not good enough to write neutral content, we need to write neutral content that is backed up with sources known to be reliable that are reporting on the matter. I've attempted to add a few to the article, although they're not as high-profile as I'd like. Also, I'd suggest that you get an account. It's not required, but it is particularly helpful.
