File:Carpobrotus rossii.jpg to appear as POTD soon

edit

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Carpobrotus rossii.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on December 14, 2010. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2010-12-14. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 02:53, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The flower of a Karkalla (Carpobrotus rossii), a succulent coastal groundcover plant native to southern Australia. Australian Aborigines traditionally eat the globular purplish-red fruit, fresh and dried. The salty leaves are also reported to be eaten with meat.Photo: Noodle snacks

This plant is known as Pig Face in Western Australia, but I wont add this to the page until it is no longer "Today's featured picture". Don't want us editors looking disorganised do we? :) SpencerCollins (talk) 01:34, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
