Movements of first CMC
editThe movements in the first CMC are sometimes described in relation to the plane of the palm, and sometimes in relation to orientation of the articular surfaces of the saddle-shaped joint. These descriptions fail to consistently describe these movements. In the article, I picked a reference (Thompson 2001) more or less arbitrarily. I'm not sure if this reference represents the mainstream view in anatomy, if there is one. Any ideas? --Fama Clamosa (talk) 13:52, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
occasional layman contacts with reality
editMale and female thumb CMC joints are different in some aspects. In women, the trapezial articular surface is significantly .... radioulnar direction than the dorsovolar, female CMC joints are less globally congruent than male joints.
um, can you turn that into a party game? Seriously, you're saying the bones of a hand are different in girls and boys. What does it translate to in real life? Can girls bend their thumbs back to their wrists but boys can't? or vice versa? something about the lengths of the fingers? sorry I'm just a little rusty on my radioulnar directions.
