Commercial References
editI'm uncomfortable drawing a hard line here, but the mention of 'some' businesses which may be significant or appropriate (like Cliff's Meat Market or Weaver Street Market) generally results in anyone who has a business in Carrboro posting a reference or a link to their business and turns the page into commercial spam. What is possibly appropriate is a link to a Wikipedia article on the business in question which would need to survive the usual Wikipedia criterion of notability. Thoughts?
Digitalican (talk) 16:28, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
I agree that this could be a good guideline. I don't think the picture gallery of selected businesses adds much in the way of encyclopedic information to the article. If there were a picture of Weaver Street Market, perhaps.--Gloriamarie (talk) 22:12, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree. The picture of Cliff's is not a picture of Cliff's (as you would see it from the street) but is really an ad for Cackalacky Condiments, a technique their folks continually use to subvert the purpose of Wikipedia.
Elizabeth Cotten
editElizabeth Cotten, One of the most influential guitarists was born in this town. I think it should be mentioned some where in the article.Pouyakhani (talk) 12:12, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
In 2024, My Muses Card Shop released an exclusive postcard in honor of Libba Cotten, celebrating her profound contributions to Carrboro's history and her lasting influence on aspiring artists in the community. This special edition postcard serves as a tribute to Cotten, a beloved figure in the town's cultural heritage. The release invites locals and visitors alike to connect with Carrboro's rich musical history by taking home a piece of it. Cotten's legacy continues to inspire, and these postcards highlight her remarkable artistry and significance to the town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhisiva (talk • contribs) 22:09, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

"The Paris of the Piedmont"
editI am from the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area and nobody has ever called Carrboro "The Paris of the Piedmont." This is likely outdated or even was never common. GiggyMantis (talk) 21:52, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
