Stayner's mental state

His request for child porn could well have been the action of a man knowingly going to a death sentence attempting to cast doubt on his mental state, it could well be that he was/is a paedophile, it could equally have been the action of someone with real mental health issues (some of which are medically documented facts). Unless there is a factual printed citation that he had engaged in actual paedophilia any accusation is best left out - he might be both convicted and on death-row but he is still a living person within the scope of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Also, as I understand it much of this might still be relevant to the statuary appeal process. SouthernElectric 17:43, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

The fact of his request is well documented. This isn't directly an accusation of any overt criminal act, but simply something he said in the interrogation process. A description of what was said and the context appears in the very lengthy and detailed SFGate/San Francisco Chronicle article here. That Stayner made the request given the history of what happened to his brother and given the relatively young age of at least one of his victims makes the fact of his request potentially relevant to an appreciation of the unusual mental processes that motivated him.Tkotc (talk) 00:51, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Article could be expanded

There is still a good deal of information on this person. Local Sacramento news just covered the fact that Merced California refused a statue of Steven Stayner because of the Cary Stayner's infamy. The sins of the brother out shadow the the life that was saved.

References can be found if anyone wants to search through the Merced Sun Star microfilm at the State archives or in the Merced Library. I have access to both relatively close and am in both cities often. I will try to come up with something to expand upon.--Amadscientist (talk) 04:08, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Source not found

The article refers to Cary Stayner being suspected of having something to do with his brother's disappearance. Follow the footnote (1) to the link, and nothing in that article suggests anything about that. I believe this gives off a false impression of the facts of the case. I can find nowhere else that states Cary had anything to do with Steven's disappearance. 97.94.208.98 (talk) 02:38, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
