Philanthropy is an important part of the Cashrewards business model. The Cashrewards IPO was used to generate awareness for the Starlight Children’s Foundation in 2020 during the COVID-19 crisis. Cashrewards became the first ASX-listed company to pledge 1 per cent of its equity to charity. Alongside other companies like Atlassian, Cashrewards is part of the Pledge 1% initiative. They have pledged to donate 1% of business equity and 1% of every cashback reward redeemed to its charity partner, the Starlight Children's Foundation. Founder Andrew Clarke attributes the company’s strong social conscience to its success. “We would not have achieved what we’ve achieved without having purpose-built into our business,” he said.
