Mark Cwiek graduated from Cass Tech in 1972, not 1973. It is accurate that he received NCAA All America honors in 1976 while a student athlete and as a javelin thrower at Wayne State University. He also went on to become President & CEO of hospitals in Illinois and Michigan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.167.226 (talk) 03:21, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reverted the infobox template because of problems with the markup and displaying images. I've also restored the pictures that got deleted in a previous revision, as they are necessary to illustrating the school. Albert duce (talk) 17:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Meg White did not go to Cass Tech High School.

alumni section needs reworking

I'm not sure that America's Top Model contestents are on par with Regina Carter, Ron Carter and John DeLorean as Cass graduates. That's not the issue they were still Cass graduates and earned fame for what they achieved .Biji san 21:01, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Diana Ross attended Cass Tech but is not a graduate. She graduated from Cass but she just graduated a semester after her other classmates. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The kid91 (talkcontribs) 03:32, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

And it needs references, ladies and gentlemen.

Reference them, please. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:41, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I added the part about the 2008 Centennial class and the 2007 Centennial celebration because I thought it was worth mentioning (and I was a part of the Centennial class :)

There are also more than 4 magnet Detroit Public Schools now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.187.112 (talk) 04:13, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The entire history section is a copy and paste with minimal changes from the Buildings of Detroit blog. The text of that site is not licensed for public use, and it is apparent that the history section should be removed until it is rewritten without infringement. In the mean time, I've tagged it with the copyright tag.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.178.208 (talkcontribs)

The text has since been removed as a clear copyright violation. Debresser (talk) 16:14, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Athletics section

edit

Hi. I just came across this article and wanted to let the people currently editing on it that the athletic section is way way out of the style and content guidelines for articles on High Schools in the United States. See WP:WPSCHOOLS/AG. All the tables of individual season results need to go, as do the lists of graduates reaching All-american status in college. Same thing with the listings of city championships. Individual students should only be mentioned if they have established notability beyond their high school career, and then they should be included in a list of Notable People (or Alumni), but only if they have an existing Wikipedia article on themselves. Season results, individual game scores, and any other tournament victories short of state championships should go. Names of coaches should go, unless the coach has a Wikipedia article on them, and in that case, they should go in a list of Notable People too. It is obvious that someone did a ton of work on this, but this is not the kind of content that school articles are supposed to have. Athletics section should have a listing of sports offered, a listing of state championships, referenced from a reliable source such as the MHSAA, and short narrative sections on any notable (which means widely covered in the media) occurrences on each sport. Examples of notable things (keeping in mind that you have to be able to cite sources in the media for the information) might be a record number of consecutive wins, a particular game where something truly notable happened (an example might be completing a football game in the dark due to a power failure, assuming it was covered in the media) or a mention of the overall won-loss record in a particular series of games with a arch rival. I am asking the editors that have been working on this article to read the school article guidelines and make appropriate changes. If you wish to discuss this, please post your concerns here.
