editThe Ozark Chinquapin foundation has created a highly resistant Castanea ozarkensis tree. “The restoration of the Ozark chinquapin chestnut is not only a triumph for biodiversity but also for the countless animal species that rely on these trees as a food source,” said Bost. “We are hopeful that the reintroduction of this blight-resistant strain will help rebalance forest ecosystems, particularly in the Ozark region, where the tree was once abundant.
