Pronounciation
editWhat does this mean, "The name 'Stalker' comes from the Gaelic Stalcaire, meaning 'hunter' or 'falconer', and should therefore be pronounced 'stal-ker', with the 'l' sounded, not as in the pronunciation of the English word 'stalker'. "
In the English word, the 'l' is sounded. Stalker. The 'l' is pronounced. So how is that different from the name of this castle? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.86.104.174 (talk) 01:20, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- I think the idea is that in estuary English "stalker" is pronounced staw-kah, whereas a true Scotsman would pronounce it stall-kah. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 17:14, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
- The two pronounciations given for "Stalker" in the BBC Pronouncing Dictionary are /ˈstælkər/ and /ˈstɔkər/, but I've only heard the latter. Zacwill (talk) 00:00, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
Pointless Spoiler Alert
editSo why on earth do we need to spoil the twist conclusion of Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail when tying the castle in with the movie? I don't think it adds to the article at all, and frankly it seems to derail the article flow.
I suggest deleting all after "conclusion", specifically:
The police officers who were investigating the death of the historian earlier in the film arrive and arrest Arthur and the other knights for killing the historian. One of them then turns to the camera and says, "All right, sonny, that's enough, just take off", forcibly ending the movie.
then ending the sentence there. Seems to leave the ties to the castle unaffected.--24.118.49.238 (talk) 04:47, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Trimmed in this edit. Not because of the plot spoiler, but because it was excessive detail with WP:TOPIC problems.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 14:58, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
History / Purpose
editDoes anyone know why the castle was built? Does it protect the shore? Was it ever inhabited? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.73.140.230 (talk) 14:49, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
