domesday edit
editI removed "originally grew around the Norman Peveril Castle at around 1198, and" as I could not get this to make sense given the Domesday quote. I also added a famous person ... hopefully we can find some more recent notable links to join this one. Also added ref tags ... these are required to get a good rating within Wikipedia Victuallers 18:40, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Move
editHello,
I've raised a proposal that this page become Castleton, Derbyshire, with Castleton being moved here. If there are any objections or concerns, can you please take them to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_UK_geography#Castleton. Cheers, --Jza84 | Talk 09:59, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Population
editThat population estimate of nearly 4,000 seems very high, especially as the previous version of the article reckoned it was nearer 750. Given that the population a hundred years ago was little over 500 ([1]) and there isn't much new housing in the village, an increase of that size seems unlikely. Any online citation possible for that census data? --VinceBowdren (talk) 22:21, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- I have no idea where the high figure came from. 2001 census data is online, and the parish headcount was 649. I've corrected the article. Warofdreams talk 00:30, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Infobox map
editI've reverted a revision by User:Rcsprinter123, in which the existing infobox map was replaced by a parish highlight map. In my view, the latter provides less information - there is no motorway or other roads depicted, and no division of districts, and Castleton is still only shown as a red mark. If the intention is to roll out such a change across a plethora of articles, I'd prefer to have a discussion with other editors first. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 08:44, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
