Manipulation, not torture!

I know why; the monkey is not actually torturing the cat but manipulating it to literally get the chestnuts out of the fire, referring to the fable The Monkey and the Cat by Jean de la Fontaine. That fable also spawned the expression the cat's paw for "dupe".
