I think the data about Ms. Catriona Gray's Personal life as stated under should be edited/corrected. This was not her answer, instead that of Miss South Africa's.

During the Miss Universe 2018 Q&A portion, Gray spoke in favor of medical cannabis, freedom of the press, and the Me Too movement. When asked whether countries should press for restrictions on immigration, she replied: "I think that every country should have their own rules and regulations but for a thriving society and for all of us to stand together, we have to understand that we are all human. We should be open to loving, accepting each other."[18]

Should be edited as follows:

During the Miss Universe 2018 Top 5 Q&A portion, when asked about her opinion on the regularization of marijuana, she replied: "I’m for it being used for medical use, but not so for recreational use. Because I think if people will argue then what about alcohol and cigarettes? Everything is good but in moderation."[18] Josisachato2017 (talk) 06:18, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

It appears this has already been updated in the article. If you still see changes that need to be made, please reopen this request (change "yes" to "no" above) to let us know. Thanks, ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 14:58, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi,

Catriona was born and grew up in Cairns, how is her home town Oas, Albay, Philippines? Hometown should be Cairns Australia and not Philippines.

Regards,

Magnayon

Shouldn't the maternal surname be removed? She was born in Australia therefore she doesn't inherit her mother's surname. Could be used as an alt-name in infobox since that was how she was credited in the Miss World website. But the name in the article should drop Magnayon. 49.145.162.228 (talk) 02:04, 18 December 2018 (UTC) 49.145.162.228 (talk) 02:04, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:46, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

@Kuyabribri: What source? It's common sense. Are you dumb? Where do you live? You can ask Aussies if they ever use their mothers' surnames. They don't. Americans don't use it either. If she was born in the Philippines, she would have that surname (as middle name/mother's maiden nsme) in her birth certificate. Only Spaniards and former Spanish colonies do.49.145.162.228 (talk) 04:30, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Please see the policies on original research and personal attacks. I won't dignify you with any further response. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:53, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
@Kuyabribri: I believe the IP editor is correct. Adding "Magnayon" as her birth name is actually the original research here, there is no source that supports her being born with that name. Editors are simply assuming that she has a Filipino name because she is half-Filipino and her mother's maiden name is Magnayon. As she was born and raised in Australia, there is no reason to automatically assume that her name follows Filipino naming customs, and I'd recommend removing this. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 05:15, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

Editing her educational background

It currently states in this wiki that Catriona Gray received a degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston. However, the linked post below of a Boston website indicates that an official of that institution says that Ms. Gray only "enrolled in a certificate program through Berklee Online and studied “music theory, ear training, harmony, and other courses.”" Edits should be immediately made to reflect this clarification since enrolling in an online certificate program is not the same as receiving a degree, and many other sources are now spreading this misinformation.

Educational Background

It now says that she has a master's certificate from Berklee. Can someone confirm this? It keeps changing without any citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.152.157.1 (talk) 19:58, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Should we omit the fact that she's Filipino Australian at the lead of the article?

Initiating the discussion here. I'm on mobile I'll present my policy-based argument later. Howard the Duck (talk) 20:03, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Hiding the fact that she's Australian seems to just be hyper-nationalism from Filipinos and WP:IDONTLIKEIT. She is half-Australian, was raised her entire life in Australia, and only moved to the Philippines in adulthood. It is absolutely clear that she is an Australian-Filipino. If there's consensus that Pia Wurtzbach is a German-Filipino, the consensus should be even stronger here. Numerous sources are also highlighting her Australian heritage or calling her "half-Australian"/"Australian-Filipino", or even in some cases simply "an Australian girl": Ex. 1, Ex. 2, Ex. 3, Ex. 4, Ex. 5, and the list goes on. All it takes is a simple Google search. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 20:10, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

I was more on the WP:LEAD, where the body of the article said that her dad was Australian, mom was Filipino, was named after her paternal grandmother, and was born and raised in Cairns. Omission of the fact that she's very bit Australian as well as Filipino is Chinese-style censorship Wikipedia should stand up against. Howard the Duck (talk) 19:36, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Catriona also stated that when she as 13, her mother dreamed about her winning miss universe in a red gown. The red gown of Catriona also portrays the Mayon Volcano and is composed of swarovski diamonds and weighed for about ten kilos. Actuallydenroseof25 (talk) 12:41, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Is music theory a proper noun?

Absolutely not, as the esteemed subjects of philosophy, politics and economics, electrical engineering and molecular biology would all tell you. Howard the Duck (talk) 19:25, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

In the context provided, as in Catriona Gray's profiler and context, yes. The contention that "Music Theory" isn't a proper noun is uninformed at best, or negative vandalism at worst. It can and does become a proper noun when it is pertained as a specific entity, besides the generalized idea of a "music theory." Thus, in this usage and context, it is a proper noun, as it is a specific subject in this context - pragmatically, syntactically, and semantically. it is a valid proper noun. Do not re-edit with uninformed reason. Thanks.

Migsmigss (talk) 19:30, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

"Do not re-edit with uninformed reason." "...is uninformed at best, or negative vandalism at worst" Guys, you gotta see this. Well, I gotta see "positive vandalism" first, though!
"Music theory" isn't even a specific subject of "music theory", unless you'd be discussing "Music Theory of Ludwig van Beethoven" , or music theories of some other dead white dude. (In this case, "Music theory" is still recommended to be in sentence caps, just as newspaper headlines are in sentence caps, unless it's a title of a specific work, such as a book called "Music Theory of Ludwig van Beethoven".) Doctorates of philosophy in philosophy had at least two Martin Heidegger subjects; now those are "specific subjects"! Now, you could argue "music theory" is a specific subject in "music", but that still doesn't make it a common noun, nor is a generalized subject of music theory in a music theory course. Howard the Duck (talk) 19:39, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Well, apparently Migsmigss has copy-pasted his response to where TPTB lurk around, exposing his/her massive WP:OWN issue with this article... Howard the Duck (talk) 19:44, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, copy-pasted because we aim to facilitate the comprehension of ones who cannot do so, holistically, the first time. Again, in the context provided, as in Catriona Gray's profiler and context, yes.

Please review meaning of vandalism, and how it can both be positive and negative. Also, "gotta" is not a word, at least not in proper dictionary form; accepted in formal writing, and is therefore inappropriate in this platform.

You also exhibit an observable superiority (inferiority?) complex by messaging and preaching where and when to put forth arguments on this platform. Again, to assist you in comprehension:

"Resoundingly" sounds a bit too presumptuous, if not uninformed. Also, you do not tell fellow editors where to put forth helpful ideas, in this context, informed arguments. Thus, I argue: 1. You are uninformed of the semantic characteristics of the adverb "resoundingly," in simple terms, you are yet to fully comprehend its meaning 2. You are uninformed of the linguistics behind proper nouns and how they are formed and determined, in all three levels: pragmatics, semantics, and syntax 3. You are presumptuous in inferences, thus uninformed, and is therefore observing impropriety; in simple terms, exhibiting mal-education, possibly ignorance? Thanks.

Residence

Could anyone help me figure out why her residence detail in the infobox doesn't show? Not quite sure how to fix it. If anyone knows how to, so that it shows in the infobox, please feel free to do the edit. Thanks.

Happy holidays, by the way. :)
