Definition assumes specific context?
editThe definition seems to assume a very specific context, apparently static stress analysis. In particular, it seems to assume that the Cauchy stress tensor is the same thing as the elastic stress tensor, without viscous stress or motion. Should it say elastic stress specifically instead of Cauchy stress? (But then it may become circular, as the elastic stress is the part of the stress that depends on the deformation...) Also what if the material is not homogeneous and/or temperature effects cannot be ignored? --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 01:53, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
