Interesting that so much detail is to be found in the Australian newspaper article and nowhere else. Presumably contributed by his brother. Researchers may yet find a New South Wales Academy of Art certificate, designed by Cave Thomas (referred to in the July 1873 reference), presumably at J. H. Thomas's instigation.
