Cecum/colon

edit

Please do not edit the cecum page. The contents are now in the page colon (anatomy). The content of the subsections of the colon were being duplicated and, of course, edits were not being propagated over all the articles. Kd4ttc 20:45, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Most sources do not consider the cecum to be part of the colon, so I have split the content back out onto its own page. --Arcadian 00:37, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's not clear at a glance what the cecum is actually the anus for from this article. I feel this needs to be clarified. Pika132 22:05, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is used to store food material in herbivores, where bacteria are able to break down the cellulose. In humans this no longer occurs (see vermiform appendix), so it's just a dead end pouch and part of the large intestine. Richard001 22:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

redirect of cecal to here

edit

Two items. There is a redirect for cecal to go to the cecum article. In this case, cecal is used as an adjective, e.g., cecal carcinoid tumor. It's also used in ileocecal. But the user should really be given the choice to also choose Cecotrope. A hatnote could be used (rather than disambiguation) since there are only 2 relevant articles. In the disambiguation help file, it says to choose a Primary Topic. For the cecum article, the cecal term is used as a adjective. For the cecotrope article, it's a noun & cecal is another name for cecotrope so I was wondering if the cecotrope article should be the Primary Topic.

Item two; caecal also redirects to cecum, but that word is not used in the article. It's an alternative spelling to cecal but since it's not in the article, should it be a redirect to the Cecotrope article (which does contain the word caecal)?

Disclosure: I asked this on the Teahouse page, but did not get a complete answer so thought I would ask here. Sunandshade (talk) 06:02, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hearing no objections, I have made the specified changes. Sunandshade (talk) 19:23, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
