Cedar Creek, Texas
editI read this article and wondered how a town of only 200 could have several schools, including a HS. Turns out the population is more like 6000. Still a small town, but quite different from the near-ghost town depicted. Pls visit: http://www.city-data.com/city/Cedar-Creek-Lake-Texas.html
Notable citizen: the town is home to Bluegrass/Blues musician "Slim Bawb" Pearce and his GatorBait band, who have made at least 5 CD's. Learn about him here: http://slimbawb.com/
Civic organization: Cedar Creek Parrot Head Club... Like an Elks Club with Hawaiian shirts: http://cclphc.net/index.htm

Cedar Creek Lake is in Van Zandt County, whereas Cedar Creek is in Bastrop County. Both the city-data.com link and the Parrot Head Club refer to Cedar Creek Lake. The original area of the community of Cedar Creek is very small and centers around the intersection of FM 535 and SH 21, but the zip code covers a much greater area and includes several schools as well as the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines.
