Should we make notes of all the deaths in his life? We have Julio Venegas, The two chicks from The Fall on Deaf Ears and Jeremy Ward

He is hispanic right?

Yes, he is.69.235.170.121 05:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)James LopezReply

married?

Why isn't his marriage mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.80.221.155 (talk) 03:39, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, those deaths are probably very important, especially considering the level of danger he exposes himself to in the things that he writes. If you can find sources to cite, include them. Bloomingdedalus (talk) 01:51, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Scientology

edit

He has publicly mentioned on his Youtube account that he is a Scientologist. This was also previously featured on the page but has since disappeared without further mention. Zoolookologie (talk) 23:08, 15/08/11 (GMT)

Vocal range

edit

I recently looked up the wikipedia article (and, consequently, last.fm biography) on Anthony Green. They praise him for a extensive/high vocal range (I observed it on Dear Child to be up to a B4). Cedric, however, sings significantly higher than Anthony Green, especially noticeable on Inertiatic ESP, in which Cedric sings to a D5. I've searched around in biographies and tried to find interviews, but does anyone know if Cedric uses his normal modal register or falsetto here? I know he uses falsetto often, but this does not sound like his regular falsetto. And from our findings, is there any way we can improve this article? Kalatix (talk) 03:20, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Anthony Green can quite easily hit a D5 too, the majority of songs from On Letting Go have at least a D5 in them. Both anthony and cedric hit these notes in their full voice, not falsetto. It can be hard to tell with males that have voices as high as these two, but I can say with complete certainty that neither of them use falsetto for those notes. In fact, I know Cedric can sing a soprano C in mixed voice, but it becomes a very thin vocal co-ordination by that point which many people would mistake for falsetto. Regardless, he can sing an E5 in what pretty much anyone would consider full voice (eg Cassandra Gemini, Frances the Mute, Vermicide, many many more). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.223.168.18 (talk) 23:45, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Incredibly poorly worded article

edit

It's just embarrassing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.5.164.70 (talk) 04:48, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I second that, that's all I was thinking reading this. I changed one or two things for the better. --69.125.112.113 (talk) 17:32, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Vegan

edit

Cedric is not a true Vegan, as he eats honey. So I believe we should make note of this, instead of deleting every single fact that I add on here. WTF is up with the homosexual feelings and speculated drug-use? We keep that but we take out known unbiased facts? Cedric eats honey, he considers himself a vegan, but not a vegan-nazi (someone who is crazy about making sure they don't eat any animal products whatsoever). There is leather in his shoes, and he doesn't care. Also, Cedric is CLEARLY influenced by Jim Morrison, as you can tell from his live performances, such as falling on the ground, or going into a trance, or making fun of the audience and giving speeches. Please do not delete everything I add without giving a reason, just edit it to make it fit the page better. Also, I believe we should make note of Cedric's disdain for the church, and organized religion in general.

You can't put the Morrison thing in there unless you can cite cedric stating him as an influence, otherwise its opinion. Additionally cedric claims to be a vegan, you can't change what he said, if you want to make your honey thing clear, head over to the articles pertaining to veganism and add those facts in there. How on earth do you know that it is an inside joke with the sexual feelings for Omar bit? I think its total bollocks. And where has anyone speculated on Cedric's drug use? Almost this entire page lacks a NPOV.
I didn't write the article, feel free to remove those statements if you wish. Zopwx2 05:27, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Several of his songs, including Tetragrammaton, Goliath, and Halo of Nembutals (more figuratively), express homosexual themes, but these are overshadowed by songs with heterosexual themes. I don't know what he said about Omar. Bloomingdedalus (talk) 01:59, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

What?

edit

"Omar Rodriguez-Lopez even commented that the amount of distortion on Cedric's voice in The Mars Volta precludes their need for a rhythm guitarist."

That doesn't make sense. --Macarion 21:01, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

- I agree. I removed it because there is no source and it really does not make any sense. --Olliemilne 22:21, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

-Another: "Until recently, his last name was the secret answer of a student at Gosford High School." Does unsupported random information without any clear definition really need to be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.178.74.70 (talk) 02:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Doesn't make sense

edit

This section doesn't make total sense to me:

"Closer to the Dub of De Facto and the ambient experimentation shown in The Mars Volta and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez records than the prog-rock of The Mars Volta," I'm not totally sure what it's meant to say either..

--Ciaranpower 18:34, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

--I think they were trying to say that Cedric's single is more like Defacto and Omar's solo work than TMV in that its quite bass driven and atmospheric, but they put "The Mars Volta" twice so it makes no sense. I'll try and make it make more sense. --Olliemilne 19:17, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Drugs

edit

It has ben stated repetedly that they have "quit doing drugs" yet numerous times (since the death of jeremy ward) both him and omar have been seen smoking pot. now i do believe that they have quit using harder substances like heroin and dmt, yet theh obviously still smoke the occasional joint. the article should either be edited to reflect this, or all mentions of drugs omitted completely.69.213.152.83 21:26, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I believe its been changed to "quit using narcotics" in order to get across that they don't use heroin but continue to smoke marijuana.
But, doesn't marijuana count as a narcotic too?Marijuana--Fhqwgads 02:57, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, marijuana isn't a narcotic. It is widely incorrectly called one, however. It should probably be changed to "quit using opioids." --Macarion 04:20, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ethnicity is Relevant

edit

Cedric should be included in the listing of Mexican-American musicians/celebrities/singers/etc, as he is Mexican-American and draws upon his Latino heritage for musical and lyrical influence.69.235.170.121 05:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)James LopezReply

Origin?

edit

so in his infobox, it states that he was born in california and then right under that it says "Origin: El Paso, Texas".... can somebody fix... something? or at least explain to me why his "origin" is different than his place of birth.

I didn't write the article but apparently he was born in CA, but spent the majority of his life living and growing up in El Paso. So I dunno if someone asked him where he was from he'd say El paso? Zopwx2 18:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

i think there should be no mention of him being mexican, because that would lead many people to think he sucks.

I think that you, 138.89.83.41, are a racist and should keep your comments to yourself in future. Olliemilne 21:31, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Voice Type

edit

Could anyone cathegorize Cedric's singing voice range?

He's a countertenor for sure, since in his chest voice he can hit as high as a D5. Razorhead 12:44 28 November 2009

Applying opera voice types to a pop singer can be done speculatively at best. It is clear however that he is a high tenor, and he can certainly go higher than D5 in head or mixed voice (G#5 on Goliath). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.32.61.89 (talk) 03:27, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Stupid, unsourced bullshit

edit

'sexual disturbing security guards'? Wtf? I think something like that needs a fucking source, as it's a pretty heavy thing to accuse someone of. Not that anyone takes wikipedia that seriously.

Some silly person added the "sexually" part recently. I took it out. (You can do this too.)--Teiladnam (talk) 20:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
