Cenci (surname) → Cenci – The dab page at Cenci should be deleted and this page should be put in its place. There is a requested deletion for the other page, and once that page is deleted, this page should be moved. Coastside (talk) 21:24, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
- Keep and revert split. There was no need to split virtually the entire content of Cenci into a new page, and deleting that page means losing all of the edit history. Would have been better and easier to just cut the non-surname stuff and re-purpose the page. PC78 (talk) 01:13, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- The reason to split the list of people from the disambiguation page is that partial title matches don't belong on disambiguation pages. The guidance for that is at WP:APOENTRIES, WP:PARTIAL and WP:NAMELIST. The page Cenci (surname) is an anthroponomy page, i.e. a set index article about the surname that includes a list of people with the name. The reason that Cenci and Censi are combined on one page is they are variants of the same name with different spelling. Names with slight spelling variants are typically included in a single surname page, although they are more typically mixed into a single list instead of separated like this. - I know the difference between a dab page and an SIA, I'm just saying there was no need to split the content in the way you did. You've effectively done a cut and paste move, which is bad. PC78 (talk) 01:29, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- I thought about that, but I didn't think it made sense to keep the other entry Cenci Journalism Project one a surname page so I split the surname page. Maybe I should revert the changes, make this dab a surname page, and put the Cenci Journalism Project in the See also section. Then I would need to request a deletion of the surname page (sigh).
