editHello, I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis editing this page for a class assignment. I restructured the page to organize it in a way with which things flow together better. Specifically, I created all the current subsections under larger sections (especially under 'Behavior' and ‘Inter-species Interactions’). I think this is easier to follow than having each specific behavior and species interaction have its own main section. I also renamed some sections, such as ‘Social Organization’ to ‘Patrol Behavior’ and moved this section under the main ‘Behavior’ section, because this section primarily describes patrol and territorial defense behavior than actual social structure or organization. I also abbreviated ‘Centris pallida’ to ‘C. pallida’ every time it was used in the article, as it seemed redundant to have the full name every time. Overall, this is a promising start for an article, keep up the good work! Marcus.kwon (talk) 19:35, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

editOverall, I think you have a very good description for Centris pallida and it sure is an interesting bee!
Besides making some sentences and phrases sound better/have better grammar like “dark color of exoskeleton” to “dark colored exoskeleton”; “Centris pallida females will find a spot for her nest” to “A Centris pallida female will find a spot for her nest”; “… flowering plants on the hope that…” to “… flowering plants in the hope that…”; and “then these mounds can be quite noticeable and difficult to get rid of” to “then these mounds can be quite noticeable and are difficult to get rid of”, I also have a part I think you should get rid of. I think “which produces an Evolutionary Stable Strategy resistant to invading strategies” in the intro paragraph doesn’t really tell anything about the bee. Instead talk more about the dimorphic mating system or have another fact.
I added and eliminated commas like between “Phoenix Arizona” under taxonomy; between genus and but in “This species is closely related to Centris cockerelli in terms of habitat and genus but is different in terms of mating, color, and subgenus”; and between inactive and hiding in “… are almost completely inactive, hiding in shade or in burrows”.
I also added hyperlinks to Bilatera, Protosomia, sphinx moths, and B. coagulans, as well as cacti, desert willow, and palo verde. Lastly there were a couple of areas that I feel you should elaborate on like who emits pheromones in the first sentence under Pheromones and a couple areas where I feel you should be more neutral like under Social Organization with “What is interesting is…” and under Temperature Regulation with “This is amazing…”
Besides these, I think this is a promising article! Raymundo.marcelo (talk) 22:34, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
General Comments Behavioral Ecology Wikipedia Project
editThis article is beautifully written and extremely informative. I have listed below some changes that may assist in the flow of information as well as details that may be included in order to improve the article.
In the introduction/overview section, I would recommend deleting the “(see below)” comment because it is unnecessary as the overview is purposed to summarize and introduce the Wikipedia page.
In the taxonomy and phylogenetics section, I am not sure whether including the information on William J. Fox as an introduction sentence is necessary. It would be beneficial to mention him, but specifying the time and date may be placed in another Wikipedia page for the individual. Thus, I suggest to hyperlink the name and hopefully create a page for the individual so that the focus of the article may be on the bee.
For the Description and Identification section, the details separating the males and females are very thorough. I would suggest adding a picture of a female and male Centris pallida in order to further distinguish the two genders if it may be available.
In the Distribution and Habitat section, I added a comma to the first sentence “C.pallida are located in dry[,] hot environments of North America. I also think that the term “Least Concern” as a classification should be specified or hyperlinked for those unfamiliar with its significance.
For the Life cycle section, I think that this should be split into two subheadings. The beginning discusses how the tunnel is formed and the egg is laid, which is not extremely relevant to the actual life cycle of the bee. This subheading should be labeled “Making Chambers” or something along those lines. Starting at the “The egg will then hatch…” is more relevant to the actual life cycle of the bee. Separating this into sections would make this part more effective.
The Diet section and Inter-species Interaction section should hyperlink all the species, even if the pages are currently nonexistant.
In the beginning of the Mating Behavior section, it should be stated after the first sentence “The two categories of behavior for bees are patrollers and hoverers.” Adding this will create better organization for the two paragraphs. In the Patrol Behavior subsection, it would be good to mention that the strategy is an evolutionarily stable strategy, as mentioned in the overview. This would connect the two points made. The ESS may also be hyperlinked from the overview section to the subsection of the same article. Kew8888 (talk) 23:46, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
