I climbed Cerro de la Silla in October 2004, and when I did, I was told by my guide that the peak was approximately 1800m high. However, when I searched online, all I found were sources saying 1575m. I'm wondering if they are quoting the height of the peak with the antena, whereas I climbed the northern peak (known as pico norte). If anyone has info on this, please update this. Thanks --Spangineer 01:19, Nov 13, 2004 (UTC)

SummitPost.org says 1820 m for the highest peak. RedWolf 03:33, Jan 23, 2005 (UTC)

Formation myth

edit

There is a rather funny story on how it was formed. It says that someone a long time ago, while hiking, dropped a coin near the summit. Desperate, he dug out the saddle shape from el cerro trying to find it.

Is this a volcano? 86.138.42.94 10:18, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No; I haven't seen anything or anyone saying it is. --Spangineerws (háblame) 12:52, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Here is a paper about the geology. My Spanish isn't good, but as far as I can see it's all sedimentary rock. -- Avenue 11:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
