Back of the envelope calculation

edit

If a person relying on rice for their diet consumes 2000 kilocalories = 550 grams of rice, and if all of the grains are infected with Sarocladia oryzae with 2.2 micrograms cerulenin per gram, and if all of the orally consumed cerulenin enters the bloodstream (very doubtful), then 1.2 milligrams of cerulenin are consumed, which even for someone only 50kg in weight is only 0.024 mg/kg, versus 30 mg/kg listed for the mice. Wikipedia policy prohibits independent conclusion that the compound in rice has no effect on people or grazing animals, and in reality until you do the experiment you can never really know, but I thought this calculation might help editors who are tempted to speculate along this line.
