Talk:Cervical cerclage

Latest comment: 16 years ago by 76.174.41.52 in topic 22 wks as viable?

The article states that Shirodkar cerclages are permanent and require a c-section for delivery. This is wholly not true. Shirodkar are NOT NECESSARILY permanent - the CAN be permanent, but they can also be taken out at 36 wks like a McDonald cerclage. This should be corrected in the article.

22 wks as viable?

edit

I think 22 is too early for this stastic. most countries are still at 24 weeks as being viable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.174.41.52 (talk) 02:09, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Multiple gestations

edit

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists currently recommends against the placement of cerclage in patients with multiple gestations. The introduction states that cerclages are used "for women carrying more than one baby."
