Leaf grades

The leaf grades section mentions teas that do not fall under Ceylon tea (black) the title of this article. Sencha for example. OrangeDog (talk • edits) 01:01, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Merger proposal

I'm not sure there's anything to disambiguate here. They are tea, and they are from Ceylon. The black tea article has quite a bit of general purpose information which would apply to any of the three kinds, while the green and white teas are extremely stubby and overly boosterish. Having separate articles seems somewhat like having a disambiguation page for "Florida oranges" with links to three different articles on types of oranges, some of which happen to be grown in Florida. • Strong oppose - This should have been noted on the individual pages. We at the tea project do have individual articles on each variety of tea, not a single article on tea production in a given nation. This was an ill-considered and hasty move, and should be undone.   • First off, as stubby as the articles were, they still managed to be ridiculously spammy and promotional, and as I discovered when I went to effect the merge, everything that was in them that wasn't flat out promotion was already in tea production in Sri Lanka. The references were nonsense. There was literally nothing salvageable that could be moved to the article to which I ended up redirecting the titles. Second, we have articles on black tea, green tea, and white tea, and I saw nothing in these articles distinguishing the Ceylon varieties by anything but unsubstantiated "ours taste the best" type puffery. If you can put together some decent, properly sourced articles, have at it. But there's no point in bringing these back as they were. bd2412 T 07:05, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Restore proposal

Currently this article, Ceylon tea, redirects to Tea production in Sri Lanka. To me, it seems like "Ceylon tea" should be the main topic, and "Tea production in Sri Lanka" should be the sub-topic that should or shouldn't be spun off into its own separate article. Currently, there is only the production article. Therefore, whenever we want to link to an article about the tea itself, culture surrounding the tea, or anything else, we have to link to the production article because that's the only one that currently exists. It should be the other way around: "Ceylon tea" should be the title of the main topic and article, and depending on the needs, sub-topics could be spun off into their own articles. Or, we could just have it all in one article titled "Ceylon tea." --Bxj (talk) 18:00, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
