Rewording suggestions
editI wonder if "It was commissioned toward 1520 by Bernardo Salviati, a Florentine banker with connections to the Medici family. The château, which is imbedded in the village to one side, where the village church forms one side of the courtyard, is more Gothic in its vernacular feeling that might be expected in a structure built for an Italian at the height of the Renaissance."
Might be better as "It was commissioned in approximately 1520 by Bernardo Salviati, a Florentine banker with connections to the Medici family. The château which is located to one side of the village centre, with the church forming another side of the courtyard, is more Gothic in its vernacular feeling than might be expected in a structure built for an Italian at the height of the Renaissance".
My french is non-existant so I'm not translating - but "imbedded in the village to one side" sounds a bit peculiar. "Gothic in its vernacular feeling" might perhaps benefit from another look - "is more Gothic in execution than might be expected......" --Mcginnly | Natter 17:51, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- My command of the language is limited, so I really can't say. It was Wetman who tweaked the lead, so you'd better ask him. I advise you to be bold and make necessary changes. --Ghirla -трёп- 14:06, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I tweaked it to read 'The château, which is imbedded in the village to one side, where the village church forms one side of the courtyard...' Googling "Talcy" in image mode will bring up some photos of the site. Is the new text clearer, Mcginnly and Andrej?--Wetman 06:36, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
German Wikipedia
editThe German version is far superior to this summary in every way. A thorough translation would help bring this up to standard. --Wetman 06:25, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
