Demographic

Two IPs have been edit waring over the demographic of this magazine across several articles. While there is a reference that the magazine was shōnen back in 1999 that I can find in the Wayback Machine, there has been no other references to demonstrate that the demographic changed to seinen. Currently, the magazine is listed under (少年・青年向け雑誌) or boys and youth magazines. If this is not ironed out, I'll just change the demographic to "male". —Farix (t | c) 01:18, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

All be it old, this source from 2005 unambiguous call Champion Red a shōnen magazine. There is still no sources verifying that the demographic switch, though this article from 2009 does state that Weekly Shōnen Champion caters to a younger audience than Champion Red—though that doesn't mean that the latter is seinen. On top of that, there are a few articles about manga moving back and forth between Weekly Shōnen Champion and Champion Red. So by the looks of it, seinen cannot be verified as the demographic. —Farix (t | c) 01:34, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Given that no reliable sources has been provided that the magazine is now seinen and that all other reliable sources state that it is shōnen, I have removed seinen as the demographic. If an editor which to dispute this, the WP:BURDEN is on them to provide the reliable sources to back their claim that Champion Red is a seinen magazine. —Farix (t | c) 11:09, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

The confunsion may rely on the fact that it is a seinen magazine but was once a shonen. In the infobox of the Japanese Wikipedia is written "青年向け（創刊当初は少年向けを宣伝した）" = "For seinen (when it was initially launched it was advertised for shonen)". It has no sources, though. Hm, Jason Thompson says it's seinen; Ain't It Cool News say: That's a shounen-seinen bordline package. David Welsh also doubt it should be classified as shonen. Manga Sanctuary goes with seinen ([1]) as do CDJapan ([2]) Gabriel Yuji (talk) 19:16, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
