The robots from the side picture are actually series 2 from 1989. You can tell from the recolors of the large fries (purple and light green instead of blue on the face) and the big mac (green with a pink and yellow face instead of blue with a solid yellow face). Also the most obvious thing is that it varies from the description in the article, as series two lists large and small fries (as in the picture), and series one only had the large fries version.
I'm going to change the caption on the article. Here's a link to the commercial that the pictures are from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxPlsxGQl3c. Feel free to change it back if you disagree.
