birth date conflict

edit

This [currently pending] edit changed the birth year to 1980 from 1978. Reference [1] says 1978, but reference [2] says 1980. Thoughts? = paul2520 (talk) 18:37, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what exactly that first reference is (not accessible without an accont), but I think it safe to assume it's a copy of birth record of some sort, which is a primary source, which shouldn't be used without a better source. The second looks rather poor, and while it does have it's own references linked into the article, I'm not finding where they got 1980 from.
If he gives a source other than 78, or if he keeps the year private, then it would probably be best to remove it per WP:DOB. --Ronz (talk) 01:15, 10 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Multiple cited references, including Rolling Stone, confirm his birth in 1980, not 1978 (RS says he was 33 in February 2014). General Ization Talk 20:03, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
The linked source is from "United States Public Records, 1970-2009". It is not a birth record and has partial information on location from 1998-2007. It does have the 1978 birth date and possible relatives, but nothing definitive.--Auric talk 23:19, 5 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Rape Allegations

edit

Part of his past history seems to omit this event: Jessica Reid had accused him of rape when she was 15 https://www.thestate.com/entertainment/celebrities/article214800050.html Charlamagne pled guilty to the delinquency of a minor and the rape charge was dismissed. More specifically, the documents accused the then 22-year-old Charlamagne of "willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously engage in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen year old female child."

Prosecutors said on the morning of June 9, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the victim's mother, who had been told her daughter was sexually assaulted. The 15-year-old girl was transported to the local hospital where examinations by doctors corroborated her story that a sexual assault had occurred. The hospital also obtained a statement from the girl implicating Charlamagne in the alleged assault. https://theblast.com/charlamagne-tha-god-sexual-assault-allegations-case-reopen The victum made attempts to have the case reopened but it was denied. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/8465095/charlamagne-tha-god-rape-charges-resurface-petition-firing-breakfast-club

NPOV and Sexual Assault allegations

edit

I recently rewrote the portion covering CTG's sexual assault allegations after looking to see how they were covered on here and feeling that it was presented in a blatantly non-objective fashion, for example: stating that the DNA evidence conclusively showed he was not guilty, with the source for that statement....a TMZ interview with quotes from his defense lawyer. I put forward to the community that my previous edit is written from a 100% NPOV - I stated what he was charged with, his position, the position of the accuser, as well as the most recent statement from the prosecutor. I can not find any source that corroborates him being cleared on DNA evidence other than Charlamagne and his lawyer - I can't find anyone on the record characterizing the substance (or lack thereof) of the criminal case except for the statement of the prosecutor, but I think it is very generous to say the DNA submission failed to show any evidence of these allegations when we have the prosecutor making a public statement years later stating that the alleged victim did not cooperate with their investigation, which is why the charges were dropped - not because he was exonerated by DNA evidence. I do not think that is an objective assessment of the situation and I think the fact that the only citation provided was a gossip tabloid is telling. I stand by my original edit but I have not been a regular wikipedia editor in some time so I am obviously interested in hearing other's perspectives. PEiP (talk) 22:11, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
