NewCo Music, arrest and trials, and Retirement?????

edit

This section of the article describes nothing even remotely related to the title. "NewCo Music", whatever that is, is never even mentioned. And, oh yeah, was he arrested and then later retired? Because it is not brought up even once. Thought about completely deleting the entire section, but it does seem to have some details about what Charles Hamilton has been up to lately. I guess I should just change the title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.227.232.77 (talk) 18:19, 17 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Charles Hamilton (Musician)

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Charles Hamilton (rapper)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "allmusic":

  • From Wale (rapper): Cordor, Cyril. "Wale > Biography". allmusic. Retrieved November 26, 2009.
  • From MC Lyte: Prato, Greg. "Biography". Allmusic. All Media Guide. Retrieved 2008-03-05.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 00:06, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Why was most of his discography removed?

edit

Charles Hamilton is most notable for producing huge volumes of music in the form of mixtapes. These are not just new collections of existing songs, but rather most of them are primarily new material. This list of mixtapes has recently been removed, and it's not clear to me why. This was honestly the single best definitive list of his mixtape releases anywhere on the internet and, as such, was a highly useful information resource. Removing it seems like it's slapping in the face the contributors who have built and maintained it and given that he's most notable because of his popular and successful mixtapes (rather than his studio albums, none of which have been commercially released as of yet), it seem ludicrous to remove the list of them. Unless someone can explain the justification for removal, I am going to be restoring it from history. KeithyIrwin (talk) 08:37, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

The list of mixtapes has been placed on the page Charles Hamilton discography. It is very messy having a list of 50+ items on an artists page and is more suited to being on that page. Kidstylez (talk) 01:18, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
That's pretty darned reasonable. I hadn't seen that the separate page had been created for it. My bad. KeithyIrwin (talk) 06:45, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Studio Albums

edit

Is there a reference to why some of his mixtapes are being classed as studio albums? These are the current projects listed as studio albums.

Only "This Perfect Life" and My Heart were or are not going to be released as free mixtape. I feel the rest should be moved to mixtapes or projects on the Charles Hamilton discography Kidstylez (talk) 01:24, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Label

edit

Why is there a claim being made that he's signed to Kanye West's Label G.O.O.D music when he isn't. If you're going to make that claim can there be proof of that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Envyme (talkcontribs) 07:33, 2 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

J Dilla "associated act"

edit

hello i undid the edits that claimed J Dilla as an associated act in the userbox but the edit summary used was incomplete due to the apostrophe's location next to the enter key on my keyboard. -badmachine 00:34, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Discography split

edit

The discography is mainly very long lists and is not really suitable for the main article. It appears this was done before but was reverted for some reason... Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 13:04, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

The following message is copied from my talk page;
"The Charles Hamilton Discography does not need to be put into another article, many fans have commented on the value of information they've gotten from it being on his main page. Splitting it off from the main page would make each separate entity far too barren. But if everyone would please leave the page alone and let me do all the changes to it and complete it and then discuss or debate conflicts that'd be great. I'm more than over qualified and informed to be working on the page. But it's a day to day process because my life can not obviously focus on Wikipedia all day everyday. We'll get nowhere if my work keeps GETTING DELETED. Thank you, starCHaser67- Derek — Preceding unsigned comment added by SabresNT11x9x67 (talk • contribs) 8:11 pm, Yesterday (UTC+1)"
I have restored the tag as I think my suggestion is valid and should be discussed.
@SabresNT11x9x67: No one owns an article, you cannot ask people to "leave the page alone and let me do all the changes to it and complete it". If you think you have valid reasons for not splitting off the discography please present them here. Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 11:07, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Pinging; @Kidstylez: and @KeithyIrwin: as they were involved in the previous discussion. Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 11:10, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

The article Charles Hamilton discography was merged into this article in 2011 per this discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brooklyn Girls. The reason for the merge was: get real, Hamilton has never released an actual album so why should he have a separate discography article. Yes he has a long "discography" but it's stuff he's self-published in electronic form only. Anybody can do that, I could do that. Anybody can upload videos to YouTube. He barely rates having an article, I guess, but does not require this level of detail on his discography.

This is not a fan site. An appropriate place for this material would be website dedicated to Charles Hamilton. You're not allowed to recreate articles that have been deleted or merged by community consensus and the discography article is liable to be shot on sight on that basis. I'm not going to do that because I don't much care, but someone else is liable to. I might start an AfD on it. Herostratus (talk) 02:46, 15 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
