editI found this brochure which mentions that
- The highlight of the exhibit was the refurbished Ruston Hornsby 9HRC diesel engine that was on display in the parking lot along with a pictorial of the evolution of generation. This unit was one of the first generators to supply electricity on the Island.
- In 1932, Ed and Charles Hislop purchased this Ruston 9HRC from Tampa and began the first public supply of electricity to George Town as well as an ice cream shop. The engine was first located on Harbour Drive near Hog Sty Bay and later moved to the corner of what is now Cardinal Avenue and Harbour Drive. It was later relocated to Shedden Road on the property of Mike's Ice. In 1943, Ed Hislop passed away leaving the "business" to his brother Charles who continued the operation until 1951.
