editA few comments about both the picture "Image:Charles lane.jpg" and the article "Charles Lane":
- -The description in the first line in the article seems to be lifted verbatim from the page listed in External Links.
- -The name of the image has only the person's first name capitalized, and is this just a difficult-to-avoid upshot of the way the system is put together, or is it abnormal as well as anomalous?
- -I don't see anything about where the photo came from. The external page doesn't have one BTW.
- -Is this guy actually still alive? Apparently, per web searches.

Dead or Alive's website has him alive at age 100.--Susan Nunes—Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.53.202.206 (talk) 04:06, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
additional television credits
editCharles Lane made numerous appearances on "I Love Lucy" in the 1950s.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.175.80.210 (talk) 20:16, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Filmography
editThe filmography looks suspiciously similar to IMDb - the '(voice)' and '(scenes deleted)' bits especially, which are exactly the attributes IMDb uses. BillyH 19:32, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
TV Land Awards
editThe "pre-recorded segment" is a bit misleading as the entire TV Land Awards is pre-taped. Therefore, his appearance was actually live at the show.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.231.231.45 (talk) 08:12, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
"Oldest Actor?"
editWhat about Dutch Actor Johannes Hesters born in 1903? Why does he not count as the oldest actor? Or perhaps even someone else that I may not have heard of. There is, however, at least one older I can think of, so it's a silly, unverifiable catagory that I feel should be removed from this page and the Bob Hope's as well. - The title of oldest living actor actually refers to the oldest living actor still working.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.124.142.231 (talk) 01:14, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Johannes Hesters is still working, so the catagory is still incorrect. Canadian Paul 15:20, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Look I didn't come up with the category but maybe it only refers to americans. Also, wikipedia does not have an article for your friend Johannes Heesters.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.188.116.136 (talk) 17:20, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- My "friend" is right here, apologies for the missing "e," but transliteration can be complicated Johannes Heesters Canadian Paul 18:57, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- I guess you're right, Heesters should be number one on the list. But I still am not sure whether or not it only applies to American actors.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.12.113.46 (talk) 12:14, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- It got removed from Hope's page anyway, so I'm taking it off this one as well. Canadian Paul 16:33, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Simpsons Reference
editCharles Lane is the inspiration for the long-recurring character of the Blue Haired Lawyer from "The Simpsons" usually representing Mr. Burns, or opposing Loinel Hutz in any court scene. This is a rather obscure point of reference, though I'll bet more people today would recognise that character than Mr. Lane, unfair though it may be. Does this factoid have a place in this article? --Zommbi 10:41, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Death
editFor A Strange Reason his death date says July 9 And also says he died on July 10.C'mon he cant die twice.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.130.177.144 (talk) 22:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
I have confirmed it was the ninth. Capitalistroadster 23:35, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
editI have assessed this article as a start due to its organisation and level of detail. Capitalistroadster 23:35, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
"Recent Death" tag
editThis tag really does not apply, because the circumstances of his death are not in doubt. He was 102 years old, and died in the presence of his son. The tag really is only applicable when there is uncertainty as to the cause of death. It is not slapped on automatically every time someone dies.--Mantanmoreland 15:54, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Mother Alice
editAn uncited claim his mother died in 2002 just before her 100th birthday. Making her 2-4 years older than Lane. Seems unlikely, typo? 136.35.234.251 (talk) 01:18, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
