"Paddy"

"Paddy" is in scare quotes in the DYK hook and the article's opening sentence, and the "nickname" field in the infobox says Paddy and links to "Paddy: (capitalised) An Irishman (derogatory)". Is there any evidence that he was Irish or that people nicknamed him on the assumption that he was? It seems much more likely to me that "Paddy" is just the standard hypocoristic for "Patrick", his middle name; in which case, per MOS:QUOTENAME it should not be in quotes. jnestorius^(talk) 10:08, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Jnestorius: quite so, there seems no reason for the name to have been in quotes. Paddy is a very common short form for people called Patrick. In fact, if that's really his commonly-used name, then the article should probably be moved there. Sorry, I didn't see that you'd raised the issue on DYK until now.
