editBefore he turned to property development, Andrew Craigie was America's first Apothecary General. He was the son of another Andrew Craigie, who came from the Orkney Islands and became Warden of the Port of Boston. There are biographies of both men at http://www.buyorkney.com/roots/biographies/andrew_craigie_jnr/Merrydancer 13:38, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
What is this?
edit" later p/o Lowell.[2] (It was not named after the short Lechmere Canal which is now near the Cambridge side of the bridge, but did not exist at the time.)"
p/o?
The sentence in the parenthesis makes no sense whatsoever. Is it some sort of strange double negative? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.183.13.16 (talk) 21:00, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed. The substance of the sentence should have been better phrased, and shouldn't have been in parentheses. If someone wants to restore and fix the phrasing, so be it. - Denimadept (talk) 22:11, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
Boundaries
editCurrently, this article says the bridge "[connects] Leverett Circle in downtown Boston, to Monsignor O'Brien Highway in East Cambridge, Massachusetts... The bridge is fully within Boston, with the city line to the north, at the center of the original river." I find this a bit confusing. Is the bridge entirely within Boston or not?
@Ahecht, Beland, and TomG2002: Thoughts? Pinging you both as recent contributors to similar discussions at Talk:North_Point_Park_(Massachusetts)#Location and Talk:North Bank Bridge. Perhaps some wording adjustments could make this a bit more clear? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:17, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- It is entirely within Boston. TomG2002 (talk) 21:39, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Note: TomG2002 updated the lead. Hoping others will weigh in here. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:59, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- TomG2002 is correct; I added a reference with a map showing the municipal boundary. The dam goes from shore to shore, but the drawbridge is actually a very short segment of the dam. The drawbridge is located very close to the Boston shoreline, and as the boundary is approximately in the middle of the dam, the bridge is entirely within Boston. I tweaked the intro to make this clearer. -- Beland (talk) 23:06, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Beland, Ok, so should we remove Category:Bridges in Middlesex County, Massachusetts if the bridge does not go into the boundaries of Cambridge? ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:15, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, yeah, that would be correct. Category:Bridges in Boston is a subcategory of the Suffolk County category, so that one removal should be all that's needed, I think. Done! -- Beland (talk) 01:43, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Infobox image?
editWhich image should be displayed in the infobox? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:33, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- What are the choices? -- Beland (talk) 23:10, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Beland, commons:Category:Charles River Dam Bridge ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:15, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
- Most of the photos in that category show the old Charles River Dam, but not the Craigie Drawbridge. The bridge itself is only obviously visible in a few photos:
- The 2010-11 construction photos, not the best for an infobox.
- The 1910s photos, where it's not that easy to pick out unless you know exactly what you're looking for (it's where the carriages are going, between the tower and the trolley bridge).
- File:Charles River Bridges P1010828.jpg, which would be my choice for now. It's very confusing since there are three bridges in this photo all in the distance and at the same eye line. I live near by and can get a better photo. -- Beland (talk) 01:53, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
- Beland, That'd be great! ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:56, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
