Birthdate

edit

In this article the 21 april 1841 is given as the birthday of Charles Sprague Sargent. The same date is used in the russian language version. In all other language versions it is the 24 april 1841. I tried to find out which date is correct. That's what I found on familysearch:

I thought that probably the 21st is the date of birth and the 24th the date of christening. But that's just a presumption. Which date is correct? --Rectilinium'♥' 14:16, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article should have a reference for the date. I am working from Appletons' which says the 24th so I'll use that since neither of the two external links seems to have anything to say. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 19:58, 18 November 2010 (UTC) Both American National Biography and Dictionary of American Biography use the 24th. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 17:31, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Camellia japonica 'Professor Sargent'

edit

Charles S. Sargent has a popular camellia cultivar named after him - it would be a good addition to the article to include this. [1]https://camellia.iflora.cn/Cutivars/Detail?latin=Professor%20Sargent 2601:C7:4200:C170:3D3E:C537:96B1:75FD (talk) 12:28, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
