I have removed (for the 2d time) paragraphs from this page that appear to be a solicitation for funds. These paragraphs have been inserted by an anonymous user, User:69.160.110.59. The reason for the removal of these paragraph is because (1) they are 100% copied from the link provided by User 69.160.110.59, http://www.happyretreat.org/, and (2) they are not wikipedia-worthy entries. Instead, the paragraphs contain an impassioned plea for fundraising. This is advocacy and fundraising, and not appropriate for wikipedia. As a compromise, I have included the website in the external links at the bottom. --Gopple 21:14, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, had no idea such entries were not allowed. I've removed all the impassioned pleas and referred the reader to the external link.

No problem. Looks better. I did remove that last sentence encouraging people to visit the website. But the rest is probably ok. Good luck with the fundraising...it sounds like a good cause. --Gopple 17:03, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Run William Blizzard by me again?

edit

I went to college in Jefferson County, Shepherdstown, and live there now after fourteen years outside Washington. I spent graduate school in Cabell County/Huntington which is not far from Logan and Mingo County. Somebody run that by me again of how William Blizzard who was tried for murder and acquitted in JEFFERSON COUNTY. Jefferson is the last county in the Eastern Panhandle. LOGAN and MINGO are very close and eighty miles from Huntington respectively, so there is a lot of mileage in between. If the offense was generated in the southwest why was it tried in the Far East?

The socio-economic differences between one and the other are evident in college admissions as a Marshall professor and I discussed. Marshall takes its students, undergrads, from four WV counties and one OH county, all comparatively poor. Shepherd recruits West Virginians but also the best and brightest from around Washington, D.C., where your tax dollars provide for high real estate prices and high incomes. You can take a morning commuter train to Washington maybe seven miles out of Shepherdstown, and anecdotally I have heard that three quarters of local residents in Jefferson work outside WV, especially Washington.

Same thing I run into about employers who seem to be based abroad. Los Angeles, Washington D.C , what's the difference? Three time zones. I think someone thinks places in WV are all the same, you know. Chris-marsh-usa (talk) 23:42, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
