editDear Anonymous:
Welcome to Wikipedia.
I notice that you have removed the statement and reference that Charlevoix, Michigan (and 30 other locales is part of the Gaylord diocese of the Catholic Church.
Your systematic removal of the accurate relationship of the geographic organization of the Catholic church in Michigan form a bunch of websites under the theory that "it has nothing to do with geography" is wrong-headed. If you narrowly construe the word "geography", you were still removing a pertinent, true and useful fact. It would have been far better (IMHO), if you had expended all this destructive energy in a constructive manner, i.e., moving the thought or reforming it into a message that would be of use to the readers while leaving the information there in one form or another.
Of course, maybe it is that you have a different agenda.
pronunciation
edit"/ʃɑrˈləˌvɔɪ/" - that can't be quite right - you can't have a stressed /ə/ in English. Which syllable is meant to be stressed? Lfh (talk) 16:18, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
What is current status of closed nuke facility Big Rock
edit207.75.81.12 (talk) 15:34, 28 June 2012 (UTC) This information is no longer available on the net, even the NRC states shutdown in progress expected date for closure 2012 but fails to explain what will be left at the site. Are fuel rods on site still? Is glassified nuke waste on site still? Is the closure still set for 12.2012?

regarding edits of 6/25/2013 to notable people
editHi! I must respectfully disagree with the re-addition of Loeb and Drenth to the list of notable people, even with the addition of more referencing.
WP:NLIST is fairly clear that lists of notable people in other articles must include only those who meet WP:N. They are not for listing of individuals that are important locally.
Loeb could possibly be found notable, as a Sears executive and father of a murderer, but that has not been shown. I would argue that the possibility of his notability is fairly slim, just due to the fact that he has some fame and no-one has bothered to create an article on him yet. The emphasis being shown in his entry on this list is his role as the builder of Castle Farms. It would be appropriate to expand the prose on Castle Farms in the article and mention him there, but I do not see enough notability to include him in the notable list.
Drenth definitely does not meet WP:ATHLETE. Finishing 30th in a world race and attending the Olympic Trials are not enough to reach that. This is not to diminish the tragedy of his early death or his potential for accomplishments that were never fulfilled because of it. May I suggest that adding his memorial race to the listing of special events and mentioning briefly why it is a memorial race might be a better way to put his name in this article?
Also, if you have any interest, please see the section that follows. Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:27, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for your comments. I reviewed WP:NLIST as you suggested, and it appears to me that people don't need to be notable enough to have their own WP articles in order to be listed on a list of notable people. In the case of Jeff Drenth, I found this non-local article his adult running career that might convince you of his non-local notability. If you think we should make a separate article to the Drenth footrace, we can definitely discuss that. As for Loeb, I don't understand why you *don't* think he is notable enough for mention in this article. I mean it sounds like you *do* think he is at least locally notable. Edited to add: and I just found this article (Albert Henry Loeb)) Another way to include him in the story of Charlevoix is perhaps to add a whole section about Loeb in the history section, but I feel like that is perhaps overkill. As you may know, Clarence Darrow came up to Charlevoix in the 1920s during the leopold and loeb trial (link) to meet with the Loeb family. Peace, MPS (talk) 13:53, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- You know, I have to apologize. I had been misreading NLIST all along. I still feel that the standard for inclusion in lists like that should be WP:N, but at this time policy does not back that up. That is an arguement for another place and time. Of course there is still WP:WTAF, but that is an essay, indicating that I am not alone in feeling that notable lists need to be rather restricted in content. All in all, another argument at another place and time. Sorry for the hassle. I thought I was right, but it turns out you were. This article has potential to be a very good article. If you have access to local resources, would you be willing to work with me on it? I am 2000 miles from Michigan in a town whose library still features books on Windows 2000, so I am at a disadvantage, reference wise. Lemme know on my talk please. Improving this article
editThis is a pretty good article. It needs some more referencing and the layout is kinda weird, but editorially, it is a nice piece of work. There is, however a large potential to make it even better.
Charlevoix is a very interesting city, with loads of things to write about. Castle Farms was a pretty big rock and roll venue in the 70's, Big Rock was a historic powerplant installation, the smurf houses (no disrespect intended) are interesting. There is much more that can be written about tourism, the Hemmingway connection and numerous other topics. I have never done an article improvement with the idea of shooting for GA or FA, but I think the potential is here on this one. Anyone want to join in and help? Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:27, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'll help... what do you think should be done first? Peace, MPS (talk) 18:05, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Mayor
editTo the user who keeps changing the mayor listing: if Norman (Boogie) Carlson is no longer mayor, please provide a source (preferably local newspaper or city website) that says so. Do not simply change it repeatedly. Chris857 (talk) 13:48, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
