Ampersand
editThe duo's name appears to be "Chas & Dave", not "Chas and Dave" — i.e., with an ampersand instead of "and", judging by their own website which has an ampersand throughout. If no one objects in the next few days, I'll change the article's name to "Chas & Dave". --A bit iffy 10:52, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Tidy Up
editI have reomoved links for all of the Tottenham songs as the go nowhere, and the Ossie's Dream link is to this page anyway.Statto74 10:21, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Whilst "Gertcha" may have been their first top 20 entry, their first "hit" (i.e. a recording that made the charts) was actually a single called "Strumming" which released a couple of years earlier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.72.98.60 (talk) 15:14, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
POV tag
editThis concerns POV tag cleanup. Whenever an POV tag is placed, it is necessary to also post a message in the discussion section stating clearly why it is thought the article does not comply with POV guidelines, and suggestions for how to improve it. This permits discussion and consensus among editors. This is a drive-by tag, which is discouraged in WP, and it shall be removed. Future tags should have discussion posted as to why the tag was placed, and how the topic might be improved. Better yet, edit the topic yourself with the improvements. This statement is not a judgement of content, it is only a cleanup of frivolously and/or arbitrarily placed tags. No discussion, no tag.Jjdon (talk) 22:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Merge proposal
editThe Snooker Loopy article is very much of its time and unlikely to expand, and indeed, unlikely to be searched for. My impression is that it is only ever going to be searched for (a) as a Chas and Dave song or (b) as the theme song for the TV programme. I suggest that Snooker Loopy be made a redirect here, where the content can at least expand this article into something more useful, and a wikilink be added to the program itself (assuming it has an article; I haven't looked yet). --Rodhullandemu 19:52, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I disagree as most music singles have their own wikipedia article and it only makes sense to me to have it seperate. There should be an internal link from the Chas & Dave article to Snooker Loopy at some point in the article (if there isn't already), and vice versa. It's linked to from Barry Hearn's page and has enough internal links to survive fine on its own. There are singles on here with far less info than that one has. El Paulio (talk) 11:20, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- I would also disagree with merging it. There's sufficient information in the article to keep it separate. And as a UK top ten hit, I feel it has sufficient notability in itself. Plus the fact that the various snooker players collaborated in it, not just Chas & Dave, means it's quite sensible to maintain the separation. --David Edgar (talk) 16:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- On that basis I have removed the Snooker Loopy section from this article and replaced it with a single sentence. As long as the song has its own article (which is fair enough given that it was a top ten hit) there is no need to repeat all the information here as if it had been merged. Dave?
editWasn't there another Dave for a while??82.152.149.195 (talk) 16:57, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Knebworth
editMight be worth mentioning that, contrary to their 'light entertainment' image, C&D supported Led Zeppelin at Knebworth in August 1979? 82.152.149.195 (talk) 16:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Added, with source. --Rodhullandemu 17:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
labi siffre / eminem link
editChas & Dave played on Labi Siffre's Remember My Song album, including "I Got The". So that's Dave's bass you can hear on Eminem's "My Name Is".
The linkage between Chas and Dave's work as session musicians for Labi Siffre and being sampled for Eminem's track is well documented.[1] It should be mentioned in the Legacy section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.208.247.239 (talk) 02:38, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Added info
editI don't have all the facts at hand but I wonder if we could add:
- Emma Hodges, Chas's daughter, has played the pub and club circuit for many years. Not sure quite what she is doing right now but I am sure a bit of research could find out.
- A crossref to "In Sickness and in Health" for which they wrote the theme tune. Perhaps a brief mench after the bit about being offered to write the tune for Only Fools and Horses (which was written and performed by the author John Sullivan).
BTW I used to work very close to knebworth at BAe Stevenage, and delivering milk in knebworth village which is on the other side of the A1 from knebworth house. I don't know much about the festivals, beyond giving directions, but could probably research if required. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.102.156.63 (talk) 05:17, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Disaster!
editDire news for humanity; the duo, surely the greatest musical partnership since Rogers and Hart, have sadly split up as of September 2009. How will we cope without them? SmokeyTheCat •TALK• 08:57, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Article Title
editFor some reason the article title is in italics. I have added DISPLAYTITLE to the page to correct it. Ozzieboy (talk) 13:51, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Cockneys Vs Zombies
editThe closing theme of the film "Cockneys Vs Zombies" was credited to "Hodges and Peacock", I seem to recall, and it certainly sounded very "Chas&Dave"-esque....could this be them under a different guise...? 82.3.144.140 (talk) 15:26, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
2013
editAccording to their website, the dates are set right up to the end of this year, somewhat beyond the article statement of May 2013 which is passed already. They are doing the Lakefest at Tewkesbury in August for example. Looks more like though is not confirmed that this group is definitely active with no signs of wishing to step down. 80s tv show
editThey certainly had their own tv show in the early 80s - you can find a few extracts on Youtube, eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qSKAYgtAzo. Maybe this could be included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.112.247 (talk) 19:26, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Mick Burt and Nik Hodges
editThe band's official website says this:
- "Pianist Chas Hodges and guitarist Dave Peacock were widely experienced around the British rock scene of the 1960s and early 70s before teaming up with drummer Mick Burt (another much-travelled musician who had gone back to his original trade as a plumber) to form the group."
Which suggests to me that Burt was certainly a "member of the team". They don't mention Nik, but it seems a bit off to have Mick Burt without Nik Hodges? He is Chas's son, after all. I think any comparison with Hall & Oates is a bit misplaced. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:20, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
- If that is the case, please continue to make edits elsewhere that reflect this. A cursory glance at the page sees the band referred to as a "duo" and Burt referred to as a "sidesman" (which Wikipedia itself defines as a Session musician). Mick and Nik are one or the other - not both. 86.2.234.7 (talk) 20:43, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone would dispute they were primarily a duo. Open to other opinions as to who should appear in the infobox. I don't think it's definitely "wrong" to say that Mick or Nick were "members" of the band. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:51, 24 September 2018 (UTC) p.s. if you take a look at the TOTP clips on YT, e.g. Gertcha (1979) Rabbit (1981), Ain’t No Pleasing You , Snooker Loopy (1986), you'll see Mick very clearly, suggesting he was not just used for recording sessions. Nik just took his place.
