Alani

edit

I corrected the mis-transcription of 'Alani' as 'Alaunts', but the paragraph is still wrong - it lumps them with the Suevi and Visigoths as proto-germanic, when they weren't (see Alans). Marinheiro (talk) 23:44, 31 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

The part of this article referring to forts and churches is taken from my own site on Chaves. I am the author of the original and I release all possible copyright. Vogensen 18:58, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Parishes

edit

I don't get it. The official site of Chaves only lists 2 parishes as being part of the town itself (Madalena and Santa Maria Maior); what is it, then? And they write Valdanta instead of Vale de Anta.--Gazilion (talk) 16:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll clarify the text. --maf (talk-cont) 23:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Corrections

edit

I got rid of the sentence, "the town, which is the most populous in the district of Vila Real" and limited it to the second most populous municipality. The expression "town" is ambiguous and could mean anything. There is no source mentioned to confirm that even the urban area (which is very difficult to define) is larger than that of Vila Real. A town is a well defined entity in Portugal. The town of Chaves is comprised of 2 parishes and is therefore coterminous with their boundaries. The latest census showed that the town of Chaves was more populous than the town of Vila Real. I can't check right away the sources for this but they are out there; if this explanation is useful to you, please take it from here. --maf (talk-cont) 15:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wrong title of page

edit

Chaves municipality does not make any sense, since there is no map in the world that has that name. The name of the city is Chaves. The municipality consists of 51 freguesias. There is no separate entity called the "city of Chaves", only the "municipality of Chaves". The other cities in Wikipedia are called by their name. Vogensen (talk) 10:44, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
