Possible Undeletion

edit

I'd be interested in recreating this page. She and Prince Harry are still been going out, the relationship has been going on for over two years, and she's been the subject of numerous articles in both tabloids and broadsheets. I'd be wiling to write a proper article on this (the deletion debate seems to indicate the article wasn't very good). I think there are several reasons to support an article:

  • The relationship has been going on long enough that there has been some talk of possible marriage
  • There's been a decent sized scandal about her father's business connections with Robert Mugabe[1]
  • Kate Middleton, who is the girlfriend of Prince William has an article
  • Chelsy Davy generates around 64,800 google hits [2]
  • She's been the subject of multiple non-trivial articles and profiles on more than several occasions.[3]

I'm still new and have never undeleted an article, so I'd be very happy to talk to you about why this can or cannot be recreated. Thanks very much! Vickser 02:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I removed the "deleted page" template, so you can write an article now. Please make it a good one so it won't get deleted again! :) Ashibaka tock 06:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can we get a delete here? I'm sure she is a great girl and all, but there is nothing extraordinary about her. She went to college, traveled and worked. That sums up nearly the entire wiki page with the exception that she dated Harry...which all sources report to them not being together anymore...even with speculation that they are.

Vandalism

edit

There has been vandalism on this, so it needs rewriting desperately. Whoever it was isn't funny at all. --Ludo 13:26, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

I put back in the partying comment, which was removed without explanation, and took out two random fan links. One was for a fake friendster profile (if it were real it still wouldn't belong, perhaps it wouldn't belong even more strongly than if it were fake) and the other was to a non notable forum of some type. If someone wants to debate the reverts I'd be more than happy to. Vickser 21:18, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Added photo

edit

I'm removing the photo request tag because I added in a scan of a daily mail article with a photo of the two kissing. Vickser 19:54, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

A bit gossippy...

edit

The last 2 paragraphs in the Relationship section sort of sound like a gossip column...they all talk about supposed incidents and possible circumstances, which would be libel if untrue, and really, not that relevant for a encyclopedia even if true. Haha, your biography reads "in June of 2006, soandso became angry at her boyfriend." Actually, those reports are more about him than her. I realize that there is not that much out there about her, and that that is why some people think she shouldn't have an article, so it seems to make sense to include everything that is written about her/them. But I think it would be better to have a shorter article (she should still have the article even if short), than a longer one filled with speculation. Please let me know what you guys think of this. Thanks! DerGlizerndeDiamant 03:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect Information Regarding Educational Plans?

edit

There would appear to be a problem regarding Ms. Davy's plans to do a postgraduate degree at Bristol. The University has denied her enrollment there. It is possible that the University is trying to protect a future student; it is also possible that the "Daily Mail," which reported this, is wrong -- the DM is hardly a reliable source for anything. However, I think the contradictory information should be investigated. Fair use rationale for Image:Chelsy kiss.JPG

edit

Image:Chelsy kiss.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:57, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

First reports/pictures

edit

The opening says "...first photographed together holidaying on Bazaruto Island, Mozambique, in December 2004." but the "Relationship with Prince Harry" section says "...first photographed together in November 2004 on an Argentinian polo ranch,...". The first one has a source but that does not indicate that it was the first time they were photgraphed together. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 16:45, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I did some rewording which should fix the problem. Sf46 (talk) 21:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Parents & news

edit

I am under the impression that her mother's name is spelled Beverly, not Beverley. Also someone might add that she attended the wedding for Peter Phillips? --Ashley Rovira (talk) 04:26, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The ties with Mugabe are incorrect. Mugabe doesn't like white people, and Chelsy's father has done a lot of things to work AGAINST the Mugabe regime. They are not friends or work together at all. For example, helping people learn to farm their land and start businesses. The old "scandal" article was a case of severe misinformation and exaggeration, Look at the date it was written, back then all the articles about Chelsy were negative and farfetched, even though she was and still is a serious student. I'd also like to add that the gap year information is incorrect. She didn't take a gap year. The schools in southern Africa end in November, when Chelsy got her first degree. She simply waited until the next school year began, to begin her law studies in an area where school starts in September rather than February. So she took a semester off, not a year off. Dates Dating Harry

edit

When they were first discovered as a couple in late 2004, they had already been together for eight months. That means they started dating in early 2004, which is around the same time William and Kate started dating (Kate and her ex broke up in December 2003 and she started seeing William shortly thereafter). Personal Life - MAJOR gutting under WP:BLP grounds

edit

I have just gutted this section under our WP:BLP policy for two major reasons

1 - The section was a far too large - see WP:UNDUE

2 - More importantly, nearly every part was sourced either to the Daily Mail or The London Paper - neither of these is considered a WP:RS under WP:BLP. I have left the the minimal information sourced to the BBC and the Daily Telegraph.

If more information regarding her relationship with Prince Harry is to be placed in the article it must be sourced to reliable sources. We must also avoid adding too much trivial information - we are an encyclopedia, not a tabloid newspaper. Exxolon (talk) 11:40, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Prince Harry mentioned in Spare that she's the granddaughter of Robert Ardrey, the screenwriter and scientist

edit

oddly, I can't find it mentioned anywhere, and his Wiki page doesn't give his kids' names, so I don't know if it's through her father Charles or mother Beverley 94.196.67.22 (talk) 22:15, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

It seems he had 2 sons called Ross and Daniel- no daughter mentioned. So did Charles Davy change his name? I looked up CHarles Davy and it seems his father was called Tony anyway . So was he Beverley's father? It seems odd, but surely Harry would not lie. Chelsy's Coca-Cola mom and bush baron dad 94.196.67.22 (talk) 22:24, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
